Ells City Clerk #6239 AN ORDINANCE authorizing the Mayor of the City of Jefferson, Missouri , to appoint a Committee of ten (10) qualified votex - of the City of Jefferson., to be designated as the Citizens Water- works Committee. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ZTEPFERSoN, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the Mayor of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, be and he is hereby authorized bnd directed to appoint a committee to be designated as the Citizens Waterworks Advisory Committee, to consist of ten (10) qualified voters of the City of Jefferson, who shall be appointed in equal number from each of the two major political parties in said city and from each of the five wards of said city. At the time of their appointment,, the Mayor shall designate one member of said committee as Chairman, and another member thereof as Secretary. The Chairman I and Secretary of said Committee shall not be members of the same political party. if SECTION 2. It shall be the duty of the Citizens Waterworks A'visory Committee to consider and report to the Mayor and to the City Council the advisibility of the Cit7 Of Jefferson engaging the services of a reputable engineering firm to make a survey for the purpose of determining (a) the reproduction cost and the present value of the waterworks system presently serving the City! of Jefferson, and (b) the estimated cost of rehabilitating, ex- tending, and improving the said present waterworks system., in- cluding provision for additional, water storage where needed. It shall )m also be the duty of the said Committee to suggest to thel? Mayor and to the City Council the name of a competent engineeringij firm whose services may be available to make the survey and repor herein provided for, 11 SECTION 3. In the event that the rep rt of said Committee is approved by the City Council and in the event that an engineer ing firm is engaged to rake bhe survey and -report above referred Ji tot it shall be the duty of said Committee, upon the filing of such report of the enjQineer, to make a recommendation to the Mayor and to the City Council as to whether the City of Jeffersonil shall acquire the present waterowrks system am extend and improv ) the samt or construct an entirely new waterworks system for said City. he Committee shell also investigate andreport to the Council 'with its recommendation of ways and means of financing Ii the cost of said survey andueocrt, without expense to the general revenue funds of the Cit-79 SECTION 4.
