AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AND rIFECTING THE SUBMI' SION TO TTTE
QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, COLE COUNTY, MISSOUR ,
AT THE CITY ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, APRIL 3, ,.
19569 OF A PROPOSITOON FOR THE INCURRING CF TYDEBTFDNESS AND THE
ISSUANCE OF 3fJNDS OF SAID CITY IN THE MOUNT OF FORTY-FIVE THOUSA D
DOLLARS ($45,000) FOR THE PURP )SE OF PURCHASING ADDITIONAL, APPARA US
USEFUL IN THE EXTINGUISHING OF FIRES.
WHEREAS' in the opinion of the City Council of the City of ,
Jefferson, Cole County, Missouri , it has become and is necessary
to purchase additional apparatus useful in the extinguishing of
fires; and
WHEREAS, the said Council estimates that thn cost of such
additional apparatus will be Forty-Five Thousand Dollars ($45,000 ;

WHEREAS, the aforesaid sum exceeds the current income and
revenue of said dity, and funds therefor are not now available init,..
the city treasury; and
WHEREAS, the said City is authorized inder the Constitution
end Laws of the State of Missouri to incur indebtedness for the
aforesaid purpose upon the assent of two-thirds of the qualified I
electors of said City voting thereon at an election to be held
for that purpose, and provided that the amount of such indebted-
ness, when added to all outstanding indebtedness of said City,
shall not exceed any limit prescribed by the Constitution and
Laws of the State of Missouri ; and
WH',REAS, the value of taxable, tangible property within
said City, as ascertained by the assessment for state and county
purposes made as of January 1, 195, and being the last completed
assessment prior to the date of the election hereinafter provided

SECTICN 1. That tit 0-:e City election to be held in the
City of Jefferson, Cole County, Missouri , on Tuesday, the 3rd
day of April, 1956, there shall be submitted to the qualified
electors of said city the following proposition, to-wit:
PROPOSITION
Proposition to issue the bonds of the City- of
Jefferson, Cole County, Missouri to the amount
of Forty-five Thousand Dpllars (445,000) to pro-
vide funds for the purpbsetof purchasing additional
apparatus useful in the extinguishing of fires.
SECTION 2. That the said election on the aforrsa.id pro-
position shall be held in the several wards and In the precincts
and at the polling places established for the holding of 'the
aforesaid city election and as set forth in the notice of bond
election as prescribed in Section 5 hereof.
SECTIV 3. That the election on the aforesaid propostition
shall be conducted by the several fudges appointed to serve at
the said city election and by the clerks of said city election.
SECTION 4. That the said polling places shall be opened
on the day of said city election at the hour of 6:• 00 o'clock A.M.
and shall retrain open until the hour of 7: 00 o 'clock P.M.. on
said date. The said election shall be held and conducted and the
results thereof shall be c?rtified, canvassed, and declared in
all respects in conformity with the Constitution and Laws of the
State of Missouri governing elections in the City of Jefferson
and in accordance with the ordinances of said City.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk be and he is '^ereby authoriz-
ed and directed to give notice of the submission of the aforesaid I
proposition at tl-e aforesaid city election, to publication in
Post Rribune a newspaper printed and published in the
City of Jefferson and of general circulation 'therein. 'i:he said
notice shall be published in said newspaper once a week for four f
consecutive weeks and on the same day ineach week. The first
publication of said notice shall be made at least twne -y-one
(21 ) days before the date of said election and t'- e last publica-
tion shall be made within two (2 ) weeks of the date of said
election. The said notice, to be sp published, shall be in
substantially the following form, to-wit :

SECTION 6. That the City Clerk be and he is hereby authorizlbd
and directed to furnish the judges and clerks of said city elects Fn
with all poll books, tally sheets , ballots, ballot boxes, and othE
supplies necessary for the conduct of the election herein providee
for, and the ballots to be so provided for the submission of the
aforesaid bond issue proposition shall be prepared separately and l`
apart from any other ballot or ballots which n,ay be required by
law to be used in said city election and shall be in substantially
