HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 012-83 10-17-1983 R E S O L U T I O N CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS RESOLUTION N0. 12-83 A RESOLUTION URGING GOVERNOR MARK WHITE TO PLACE UPON THE AGENDA OF ANY SPECIAL SES- SION OF THE LEGISLATURE, REMIDIAL LEGIS- LATION FOR THE MUNICIPAL COURTS CONTINUING EDUCATION BILL. WHEREAS: The need for education and training of Municipal Court Personnel is undebatable, and WHEREAS: The 68th Texas Legislature passed, and the Gov- ernor signed into law. House Bill 1068, the Municipal Courts continuing education bill, which provides for mandatory train- ing for Municipal Judges and provides for raising of funds for such training, and WHEREAS:House Bill 1068 fails to provide for appro- priation of said funds as required by Article 8, Section 6 of the Texas Constitution, and WHEREAS: The result is an untenable situation in which training of Municipal Judges is mandatory, funds are being raised for such training, but may not be withdrawn from the treasury for their intended purpose, and WHEREAS: Remedial Legislation has been drafted. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, THAT, the City of Richland Hills,hereby urges Governor Mark White to place on the agenda of any special session of the 68th Texas Legislature, that may be called, such remedial legislation, to implement and activate this historic legisla- tion.
