SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS – REGULAR
MEETING OF MAY 19, 2021
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission
(Commission) actions from their regular meeting of May 19, 2021.
BACKGROUND:
On May 19, 2021, the Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting.
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the May 19, 2021, Commission regular
meeting:
1. ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner - Tarin, Vance, Vice-Chairman Baroldi, Chairman
Rosso
Absent: Commissioner - Haddad
Excused: Commissioner - None
2. PRESENTATIONS - None
3. CONSENT CALENDAR
The Commission approved the regular minutes of the April 21, 2021 meeting and
received and filed the Monthly Report for April 2021.

4. UFINISHED BUSINESS
A. COMMITTEE ON AGING UPDATE
The Commission received a verbal update from Director of Parks and
Recreation Matsumoto regarding items discussed at the meeting of April 27,
2021. Items discussed included appointment of a liaison from Temple City
Unified School District, 2020 report cards, and upcoming goals.
B. PRIMROSE PARK UPDATE
The Commission received a verbal update from Director of Parks and
Recreation Matsumoto regarding Primrose Park. He reported that demolition
has been completed, the City Council Standing Committee is discussing a
color palette for the playground and that progress is on schedule.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. APRIL PROGRAMMING RECAP
The Commission received a verbal update from Director of Parks and
Recreation Matsumoto regarding April programming including the conclusion
of Craft Club, Arbor Day, Healthy TC, and Family Trivia Night. He updated
the Commission that the Parks and Recreation Department will hold an onsite
Summer Day Camp and will continue to pivot toward onsite programming in
the upcoming months.
B. PUBLIC ART PROPOSAL REPORT
The Commission recommended that the City Council approved a public art
mural located on the Snack Bar adjacent to the softball field at Live Oak Park.
The project will be spearheaded by Girl Scout, Ella Le in conjunction with
TCASA and the Parks and Recreation Department.
6. COMMUNICATIONS – None
7. UPDATE FROM PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR
A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director’s Report for the
month of May 2021.

CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
Reviewing the Commission actions of May 19, 2021, furthers the City’s Strategic Goal
of Citizen Education and Communication.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 20 20-21 City Budget.
