BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS '( FOLIkWS: Section 1. The Mayor and the City Clerk of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, for and on behalf of the City, are hereby authorized and directed to enter into and execute a contract with Mr. Fred Meister for the painting of the west end and east end fire stations. Section 2. Said contract shall be in wording and form as is contained in the document entitled "Proposal Contract Agreem4nt for Painting Fire Stations of Jefferson City, Missouri" and shall be for the work contained in the Specifications which form a part of the Contractor's Proposal and Bid. Section 3. The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to issue and sign a draft on the City of Jefferson, Missouri, in the sum of $567.1+0 payable to Fred Meister as the consideration for the work to be performed by Fred Meister under the teszns of said contract, said check to be issued and payable after acceptance and approval of said work of painting the fire stations by the Building & Grounds Committee. I� WIEREASj the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Cole County, Missouri, by drdimince No. 6241 duly and regularly adopted at a meeting of said City Council hold on the 24th clay of February, 1956, and approved by the Mayor of said City on the 24th day of February, 1956, did direct that at the city election to be held in said City on Tuesday, the 3rd day of April, 1956, there be submitted -to the qualified electors of said City the following ' proposition: I PROPOSITION j! Proposition to issue the bonds of the City of Jefferson, Cole County, Missouri to the amount of Forty-five Thou- sand Dollars ($45,000 to provide funds for the ;purpose of purchasing additional apparatus useful in the extinguish- ing of fires. � I II and. I� IOMEAS, said ordinance did direct that the election on the aforesaid proposition be held in the several wards and in the precincts and at the polling places established for the holding of the aforesaid city election; and WHEREAS) clue and regular notice of the submission of the aforesaid proposition at the aforesaid city election was given as directed by said 1i ordinance and as required by law, by publication in the Yost Tribune, on the 12th, 19th and 26th of March and the 2nd day of April, 1956; said Post Tribune 'being a daily newspaper published and of general circulation in said City of Jefferson, and said newspaper having been previously admitted to the Post I! Office in said City as second class matter and having been published regularly ,; and consecutively for a period of more than three (3) years prior to the �l first publication of said notice, and said newspaper having a list of bona fide subscribers voluntarily engaged as such, who have paid or agreed to pay a stated price for subscriptions thereto for a definite period of time; and WHEREAS, said notice was published in said newspaper once a week for four (4) consecutive weeks prior to the date of said election, the first of !1 said publications in said newspaper having occurred at least twenty-one (21) 1; days before the date of said election and the last of said publications in l said newspaper having occurred within two (2) weeks of the date of said election; and WHEREAS, this City Council did appoint ,judges and clerks of said is city election and did make provision for the use thereat of ballots in the ,I form provided by law; and WHEREAS, the ballot used at said city election in voting upon the aforesaid proposition was in substantially the form set out in the aforesaid Ordinance Pto. 6241; and WHEREAS, said election was duly and regularly held in all respects as required by the Statutes of Missouri; and II WAUREAS, the judges and clerks of said election, immediately upon the closing of the polls on said 3rd day of April, 1956, did make out, certify, and transmit to this City Council, through the City Clerk, the returns of said election; and I WHEREAS, said City Clerk, on the 17th day of April, 1956, did it transmit said returns of said election to this City Council; and !I WHEREAS, this City Council, on the 17th day of April, 1956, did canvass the returns and did then find and determine and does now again find and �i determine that there were cast on the aforesaid proposition an aggregate of one thousand six hundred thirty seven (1637) votes, of which one thousand three hundred and four (1304•) votes were in favor of the aforesaid Proposition and three hundred thirty three (333) votes were against the aforesaid proposition; and WHEREAS, the aforesaid- Proposition was, therefore, assented to ty * i it I �? Interest accruing on said bonds oil and prior to the maturity dates thereof shall be payable upon presentation and surrender of the interest coupons to be attached to said bonds. Both principal of and interest on said bonds shall be payable in lawful money of the United States of America at the Central Missouri Trust Co., Jefferson City, Missouri.
