AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SIDEWALK OF CEMENT
CONCRETE MATERIAL, FOUR FEET IN WIDTH, 3.5 FEET BACK FROM FACE OF
CURB, ON THE SOUTH SIDE, OF SWIFT'S HIGHWAY, BETWEEN CARTER AND
MYRTLE STREETS, AND ABUTTING 70 FEET ON SWIFT' S HIGHWAY OWNED BY
ST. PETER'S SCHOOL ASSOCIATION OF JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, AS FOLLOWS: 1
Section 1. That a sidewalk of cement concrete material, i
four feet in width, 3.5 feet back from face of curb, on the south
side of Swift' s Highway, between Carter and Myrtle Streets, and
abutting 70 feet on Swift' s Highway, owned by St. Peter's School
Association of Jefferson City, Missouri be constructed and built
within thirty days from the service of a copy of this ordinance on
the owner of the property hereinabove described.
Section 2. Within two days after the passage of this I
ordinance, the City Clerk shall place in the hands of the City
Marshal a certified copy of this ordinance, and said City Marshal
shall serve or cause to be served a copy of this ordinance on the
owner or owners above mentioned, by delivering a copy hereof to sai,�
owner or owners or by leaving it with some member of his family over
the age of 15 years, making his return on another copy of said
ordinance, which copy shall be filed in the office of the City Cleri.
Section 3. In the event the owneVfor owners above named
fail to construct said sidewalk as above directed, then the City o f
Jefferson, under the power and authority given it by its charter and
ordinances, will construct said sidewalk and will issue a special
tax bill against said property for the cost of the construction of
said sidewalk, which said special tax bill will be a lien against
the property above described.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage and approval.
