HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 006-83 04-18-1983 RESOLUTION 6-83 • WHEREAS, Arson is the fastest growing crime in America costing taxpayers mi 11 i ons of dol 1 ars each year i n additional insurance premiums; and WHEREAS, the Commissioners' Court of Tarrant County on July 6 , 1981 offi ci ally recogni zed the need for aCounty-wide Arson Abatement Program; and WHEREAS, Arson losses in all of Tarrant County will exceed $10 ,000,000.00 in 1981; and WHEREAS, Arson related fires continue to tax the men and equipment of fire departments, and causing unnecessary injuries to fi refi ghters and damage to equipment; and WHEREAS, no government can afford to retain and train sufficient numbers of arson investigators to properly investigate major or multi-alarm incidents; and I~IHEREAS, the ci ti zens of this community and county should • be provided a total public information and awareness program and a task force of professional offi ce rs to investigate these se ri ous alarms ; NO?J, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF Richland Hills ,TEXAS That the Fire Marshall be authori zed to enter into an nter- oca s~stance greement wi th other partici- pating agencies of Tarrant County in a County-wide Arson Abatement Program that includes an arson control and prevention program to benefit the ci ti zens of this community and Tarrant County.
