MISSOURI , AS FOLLOWS;
Section 1. The Mayor and the City Clerk of the City
of Jefferson , Missouri , for and on behalf of the City of
IIJefferson, are heroby authorized and directed to enter into
and execute e. contr. Ret for the construction and installation
of new traffic and padestrian signnl and standards for
the said lights with the firm of Stokes Electric Company.
Section. 2, Upon on the completion of the said work as

called for by the contract, and incidental documents, the
Mayor and the City Clerk shall be authorized to pay the
Contractor the sum of Six Thousand Nine Hundred and Eighty
Seven ($63, 987.00) dollars.
Section 3. Said contract shall be in words and figures

The proposed work includes: Furnishing all labor,, and some
materials and supervision required to remove present traffic stand-
sits and. signals and concrete standard bases and replace with new
concrete bases,, standards and motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic
signalb lights and brackets, along with the necessary wiring and
street excavations at the street intersections of High Street and
Jefferson, High & Madison,, High & Monroe,, McCarty Street and Jeffer-
' son,, McCarty and Madison, and McCarty and Monroe, in the City of
Jefferson City, ilissolml,
The right Is reserved to the City of Jefferson, Missouri,, to
reject any and all bids. ,
Plans and specifications, contract and performance bond may

PEDESTRAIN TRAFFIC SIGNALS IN JBYPERSON CITY

DESCRIPTION OF WORK AND SPECIFICATIONS ICATIONS R
I. The Contractor shall perform the following work:
A. Remove the twenty four present light standards now
located at the intersections of High and Jefferson,, Madison and
Monroe and McCarty and Jefferson, Madison and Monroe, including the
lights mounted on said standards and the control boxes at each of the�
aforementioned six intersections. j
B. Remove the Master Control Box at the City Hall.
C. Remove the four light standards at the intersection
!of Capitol Avenue and Madison Street.
D. All twenty eight (28) light standards, traffic lights i
:and control boxes shall be taken to the Street Department Garage at
901 East Miller Street.
E. All old concrete standard bases at the intersections !
of High and Jefferson, Madison and Monroe and McCarty and Jefferson,,

Madison and Monroe shall be removed.
F. Thirteen of the twenty eight (26) standards to be re-
moved from the intersections of High and Jefferson, Madison and
Monroe and McCarty and Jefferson, Madison and Monroe, and Capitol
Avenue and Madison shall be cut to nine foot lengths.
G. Ten rather light standards presently located at the
Street Department Garage sza11 be cut to nine foot lengths.hs.
H. One other light standard of a length of nine feet and
presently standing at one of the aforementioned intersections shall
be used, making a total of twenty four (24) standards of a length of
nine feet each.
I. The top end of all twenty four (24) nine foot long
light standards shall be filed down and reshaped so that the top end
of the standards shall be of a diameter of four and one-half inches
by measurement from the outer edges of the standards in order to .re-
ceive four and one-half (4*) inch brackets securing the traffic
lights on each standard.
J. New Concrete Bases shall be poured and constructed
shall be of a width of twenty two (22) inches square and be of a
1 depth of thirty (30) inches. The centers of all concrete bases shall

**be located twenty (20) inches from the face of both curbs establish-
4 ing xhe corners of 'the intersections and all standards be located on
the street corners as directed by the City Street Commissioner and
City Rigineer.

K. Each of the following intersections (High and Jeffer-
son, Madison and Monroe, and McCarty and Jefferson, Madison and
Monroe) shall be cut to a width of one foot and a depth of ten in-
ches for the reception of electrical wiring, conduits and cables.
All curbs at the intersections shall be cut or tunneled under if more
feasible.
L. Approximately thirteen hundred (1300) feet of number
sixteen conductor cable (size twelve wire, neopreme jacket) or six-
;
teen number twelve single wires shall be run and laid inside two inch
lam conduit galvanized pipe.
M. Each of the following six.intersections (High and
Jefferson, Madison and Monroe and McCarty and Jefferson, Madison and
Monroe) shall be cut three times. No permit shall be applied for to
make said street cuts but all street cuts shall be backfilled as
directed by the Street Commissioner.
N. All new light fixtures on each of the twenty four
light standards are to be mounted, and all control boxes are to be

placed, and mounted and all necessary connections are to be made. They
: light standards shall be attached by bolts of a size of 3/4 inches by
12 inches.
0. The City shall furnish the following materials:
(a) Twenty four (24) sets of traffic lights
for the six intersections.
(b) Twenty four (24) sets of walk lights for
the three High Street intersections.

(c) All brackets and control boxes.
(d) All twenty four (24) standards for the'
six intersections which the contractor
shall have cut to the proper length of
nine feet.
P. The Contractor shall furnish all other materials and
i the Labor required to install the traffic and pedestrian lights, the
light standards, the brackets, the concrete bases, and all street
trenching, curb cutting or tunneling, electrical wiring, conduits,
! galvanized pipe, and control boxes.

All work shall be done in conformity with the Missouri
State Highway Commission Specification XXXIX, Traffic Sighals, 1955.

R. The Contractor shall furnish evidence satisfactory to
the City of Jefferson, Missouri, with. respect to all operations per-
ford under this bid, that he carries Rhployer•s Liability or Work-
menu Compensation insurance, or is qualified as a self-insured under
I� the provisions of the laws of the State of Missouri relating to Work—
mends Compensation Insurance.
2. The work called for in this proposal shall be completed
An working days. A working day is defined as any day when
weather and other conditions are such as would permit performance of
[' work contemplated in this project for six hours or over. Saturdays,
Sundays, national holidays and legal holidays in the State of Missouri.
I� shall be excluded from the count of working days unless the contractor
utilizes such a day as a working day as defined above. The count of

working days shall start on the date that the Contractor starts work
operations and, in any event, not later than the date specified in
tr.e notice to proceed. ORner shall be sole judge of the number of
Tcrking days to be charged under the contract. The owner will issue
a notice to proceed within two days after letting contract, provided
uhe award of the contract has been made and the contractor has execut-,
Fd and filed the prescribed number of copies of the contract, bond
and satisfactory evidence of having complied with insurance require-
ments.
3. By the submission of this proposal the Contractor repres-
ents that he is fully informed of all of the work necessary and all
conditions which might be encountered affecting all the necessary work'
under this proposal and that his information was secured by personal
investigation and not by any estimates or representations of the City
of Jefferson City, Missouri.
4. Payment will be made in a lump sum basis after acceptance
of the work by the City of Jefferson, Missouri. Prior to receipt of
payment, the contractor shall furnish affidavits thal all materials
used in this project have been paid for and all bills for labor have
been paid completely.
5. The undersigned proposes to and, if declared by the owner
to be the lowest and best bidder, will furnish all labor, materials,
equipment and supervision, excepting that which is to be furnished by
the owner, the City of Jefferson, Missouri, and will perform all of

of Electrical Motor Vehicles and Pedestrian Traffic Signals in

fulfill all the undertakings, covenants, terms, conditions and agree-
ments of said contract during the original term of said contract, and
any extensions thereof that may be granted by the City of ,Jefferson,
Missouri, with or without notice to the Surety and during the life of
any guaranty required under the contract; and shall also faithfully
perform and fulfill all undertakings, covenants, terms, conditions
and agreements of any and all duly authorized modifications of said
contract that may hereafter be made with or without noticeto the
Surety; and shall also promptly make payment for material, lubricants,
oil, gasoline, grain, hay; feed, coal and coke; repairs on machinery,
groceries and food stuffs, equipment and tools, consumed or used in
connection with the work set forth in the contract referred to above,
and all insurance premiums, both compensation and all other kinds of i
insurance, on said work, and for all labor performed on such work
whether by subcontractor or otherwise, as provided for by said con-
tract and in any and all duly authorized modifications of said con-
tract that may be hereafter made, with or without notice to the Surety
then, THIS OBLIGATION SMALL BE VOID AND OP NO EFFECT, but it is ex-

CONTRACT AGRE91WT
THIS AGFOEMENT Made and entered into by and between the City
of Jefferson City,, Missouri, hereinafter referred to as the 110malm
and
hereinafter referred to as the "Contractor."
WITNESSETH: That for and in consideration of the acceptance
of Contractor's bid and the award of this contract to the said Con-
tractor by the Owner, and in further consideration of the agreements
of the parties herein contained, to be well and truly observed and
faithfully kept by them, and each of them, it is agreed by these
parties as follows, to-wit:
Oi4ner agrees to pay and will pay the Contractor the amount of
according to the terms set out in the Contractor's Proposal as set
forth in the provisions of paragraph four thereof.
The Contractor agrees to do and furnish, at his own expense,
all labor,, equipment, materials and supervision that is necessary to
perform all work set forth in the part of the proposal termed Des-
cription of the Work and Specifications Therefor for Installation of
Electrical Motor Vehicle and Pedestrian Traffic Signals in Jefferson

The Proposal, Performance and Materials Hand, and Notiaa to
Proceed, and any other supplemental agreements hereto, are made a part
of this contract as if fully set out therein.
Contractor agrees that he is fully informed of all of the work
nee,dfary and all conditions which might be encountered which may
affect the necessary work under this contract and that his informa-
tion was secured by personal investigation, and not by any estimates
or, representations by the Owner, and that he will make no claims
ageinst the Owner or its servants and employees by reason of estimates

or representations of any agent of employee of the Owner,
Contractor agrees to begin the work under this contract not
later than the date specified in the Notice to Proceed and to complete
` the work within the time specified in the Proposal or such additional
t time as may be allowed under the contract by the Owner. All work
