SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS – REGULAR
MEETING OF OCTOBER 20, 2021
RECOMMENDATION:
The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission
(Commission) actions from their regular meeting of October 20, 2021.
BACKGROUND:
On October 20, 2021, the Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting.
ANALYSIS:
Following is a summary of actions taken at the October 20, 2021, Commission regular
meeting:
1.ROLL CALL:
Present: Commissioner - Haddad, Rosso, Vance, Vice-Chairman Tarin,
Chairman Baroldi
Absent: Commissioner - None
Excused: Commissioner - None
2.PRESENTATIONS - None
3.CONSENT CALENDAR
The Commission approved the regular minutes of the September 15, 2021,
meeting and received and filed the Monthly Report for September 2021.

4. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
A. COMMITTEE ON AGING UPDATE
The Commission received a verbal update from Director of Parks and
Recreation Matsumoto regarding agendized items of the Committee on Aging
including creating a subcommittee to create a year-end report card and an
update regarding 2021 action items. He concluded that the next Committee
on Aging meeting is scheduled for October 26, 2021.
B. PRIMROSE PARK UPDATE
The Commission received a verbal update from Director of Parks and
Recreation Matsumoto that the second portion of the shade structures
required to construct for the playground is expected to arrive in the upcoming
weeks, the restroom and storage facility are being developed, and that an art
subcommittee has reviewed public art pieces that is aimed to be considered
by the City Council during their meeting scheduled on November 16, 2021.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. SEPTEMBER PROGRAMMING RECAP
The Commission received a verbal update from Director of Parks and
Recreation Matsumoto regarding Healthy TC, Youth Volleyball, and STARS
Club. He noted the Healthy TC continues to be a strong program, Youth
Volleyball is operated as a clinic and that Temple City Unified School District
does not allow outside organizations inside of their buildings therefore, the
STARS Club program is on hiatus for the time being with the exception of
Cleminson Elementary School located within the El Monte City School
District.
B. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMATEUR SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION
(TCASA) FOR RESERVED USE OF LIVE OAK PARK SOFTBALL FIELD
AND HANGING BANNERS
The Commission approved a request from TCASA for reserved use of Live
Oak Park softball field and hanging banners.

C. REQUEST FROM TEMPLE CITY AMERICAN LITTLE LEAGUE (TCALL)
FOR RESERVED USE OF LIVE OAK PARK BASEBALL FIELD AND
HANGING BANNERS
The Commission approved a request from TCASA for reserved use of Live
Oak Park baseball field and hanging banners.
6. COMMUNICATIONS – None
7. UPDATE FROM PARKS & RECREATION DIRECTOR
A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director’s Report for the
month of October 2021.
CITY STRATEGIC GOALS:
Reviewing the Commission actions of October 2021, furthers the City’s Strategic Goal
of Citizen Education and Communication.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2021-22 City Budget.
