Subsection (b) of Section 3 of Ordinance Number 6435 of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, pertaining to the salary and compensation of the Welfare Worker and ex-officio City Clerk is hereby repealed. Ellis President of the Council Mayor ORDINANCE NO. 6464 AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF ASSISTANT CITY CLERK, DEFINING THE METHOD OF APPOINTMENT, THE TERM OF OFFICE, THE QUALIFICATIONS AND BOND, THE DUTIES AND SALARY OF SAID OFFICE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON CITY, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Assistant City Clerk. The office of Assistant City Clerk is hereby. created. Section 2. Appointment. The assistant city clerk shall be appointed by the Mayor with the consent of a majority of the members of the city council. Said appointment shall be made on or before the second regular meeting of the city council after the general city election in the year 1957 and every two years thereafter. Section 3. Term of office. The term of office shall be for two years, provided that, the mayor, with the consent of a majority of the members of the council, may remove the assistant city clerk from office at any time. In the event of the death, resignation or removal of the assistant city clerk from office, the mayor, with the consent of a majority of the members of the council shall have the power to make an interim appointment of a qualified person to serve the balance of the two year term. Section 4. Qualifications and bond. The assistant city clerk shall be over, the age of twenty one years and a resident of the city. Said person shall be of good moral character and physically and mentally able to carry out the duties delegated to said office by ordinance, ..the mayor, the city council or the city clerk. Before entering upon discharge of the duties of said office, the assistant city clerk shall execute a bond in the amount of Five Thousand ($5,000.00) Dollars to bhe City of Jefferson, Missouri, with good and sufficient securities to be approved by the Mayor, conditioned upon the faithful discharge of the duties of said office as required by the ordinances of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, and -that he will promptly pay over all monies coming into his possession that belong to the city, at the time and in the manner provided by law. Section 5. The Duties. The assistant city clerk shall perform all duties delegated to him by ordinance, the mayor, the city council and the city clerk. In the absence of the city clerk, he shall perform all of the duties of the city clerk as prescribed by ordinance. Section 6. Salary. As salary and compensation for the duties mentioned above, the Assistant City Clerk shall receive the sum of Two Hundred and Sixty Five ($265.00) Dollars per month. Section 7.
