APPROVING THE ACCEPTANCE OP STATE FUNDS FOR THE BOROUGH
OF CARTERET'S PARTICIPATION IN THE STATE GRANT PROGRAM
ADMINISTERED BY THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY, DEPARTMENT OF LAW
& PUBLIC SAFETY, SFY21 BODY- WORN CAMERA GRANT PROGRAM FOR
THE PURCHASE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF BODY -WORN CAMERAS
FOR THE BOROUGH OF CARTEI2ET'S POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Attorney General of the State of New Jersey mandates all law
enforcement agencies in the State of New Jersey to use Body Worn cameras in
Accordance with Attorney General Law Enforcement Directive No. 2021 -5, effective
June 1't, 2021, which is intended to further community trust, respect citizen privacy and
promote public safety; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret made an application to participate in SFY21 Body -
Worn Camera Grant Prpgram to offset the costs associated with the purchase and
implementation of Body -Worn Cameras for the Carteret Borough Police Department; and
WHEREAS, on July 15th, 2021, Award Number 21 -BWC -044 in the Award Amomit of
$193,610.00 was awarded to the Carteret Borough Police Department to be used between
theAward Period of January 1't, 2021 and December 3I't, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret's Police Department is authorized to accept and
does accept the award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, this 3dh day of September, 2021, the Borough
of Carteret's Police Department accepts the grant funds in the amount of $193,610.00 for
the purpose of purchasing Body -Worn Cameras and Ancillary equipment associated with
the use, storage andmaintenance of said cameras and equipment by the officers of the
Borough of Carteret's Police Department.
