Home My Public Portal Aboutr 21-189Nn. #21 -189 Date of Adoption SeptembeY 30 2021 RESOLUTION OF THE BOROUGH OF CARTERET FORMALIZING ITS ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE STATEMENT BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough that the Borough is committed to its long standing policy in support of Environmental Justice initiatives and thereby formally adopts the following Environmental Justice Statement as an official policy of the Borough. Carteret is a very diverse community consisting of persons of all races, ethnic background and creeds. It will continue to involve members of its community in municipal planning to address climate change, racial inequity and environmental injustice. That initiative will include opportunities for all members of the community'to participate in the decision - making and planning process including low income, handicapped, minority and linguistically isolated citizens. That opportunity will include meaningful input on municipal projects. Carteret will pursue its continuing efforts to promote programs that focus on human health and well- being, the environment and economic opportunity for all residents in order to avoid adverse environmental effects associated with transportation projects. Carteret will continue to support initiatives that seek to reduce environmental challenges so that all residents are protected from being disproportionally exposed to environmental hazards. As it has done in the past, Carteret will cooperate with federal, state and local governments as well as with not -for- profit entities to ensue environmental justice for all of its citizens.
