SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Legislation went into effect on January 1, 2011 that establishes counties as the officials for all elections. Idaho Code §34-1205 and §34-1206 state that the county board of commissioners
shall be the county board of canvassers and the county clerk shall serve as their secretary for this purpose; and the board shall examine and make a statement of the total number of
votes cast for all candidates or special questions that shall have been voted upon at the election. The Valley County Board of Commissioners canvass results of the May 18, 2021 Special
General Obligation Bond Election and Resolution 21-19 will be added to the Council packet following the Valley County Board’s meeting on May 24th.
Idaho Code §50-1026 requires that a two-thirds (2/3) majority of the qualified electors voting at such election assent to the issuing of such bonds.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Adopt Resolution 21-19 ratifying the Valley County Commissioners canvass of the May 18, 2021 Special General Obligation Bond Election and authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary documents.
