SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Local Option Tax Commission met May 11 and 12, 2021 to view presentations from applicants for FY22 Local Option Tax Funding. On May 14, 2021, the Commission met to deliberate and
complete recommended funding amounts.
This year the Commission received 50 applications totaling $1.3 million dollars in requests. Due to the uncertainty around the Covid-19 pandemic, the budget was set conservatively at
$766,000. Per Council direction $200,000 is dedicated for the Parks & Recreation Department loan repayment and $14,500 is dedicated to administrative costs. The Committee was given
a budget of $551,500 to allocate. It was a difficult job with many more requests than usual either not being funded or placed in the contingency category to be funded if revenues come
in higher than budgeted. Included in the packet are copies of the recommended funding and copies of all 50 applications. LOT Commission Chair Paul Christensen will be available for
questions around the Commission’s decisions.
