Ells /s/ City Clerk ORDINANCE NO. 6705 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN ELECTION IN THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID CITY ONE PROPOSITION, NAMELY, (1) TO INCREASE THE PENSION PAYABLE TO WIDOWS OF FIRE DEPARTMENT MEMBERS FROM THE SUM OF FIFTY ($50.00) DOLLARS PER MONTH PLUS TEN DOLLARS FOR EACH CHILD UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN YEARS TO THE SUM OF ONE HUNDRED ($100.00) DOLLARS PER MONTH WITH THE ADDITION OF TEN DOLLARS PER MONTH 'FOR EACH CHILD UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN YEARS. WHEREAS, The Board of Trustees of the Firemen' s Retirement Fund of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, and the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, have considered and determined that it would be desirable and reasonable to amend Section 9 of Ordinance Number 4883 of said City to provide an increase in the pension payable to widows of Fire Department members from the present sum of Fifty ($50 .00) Dollars per month plus the sum of Ten Dollars per month for each child under the age of eighteen years to the sum of One Hundred ($100 .00) Dollars per month plus the sum of Ten Dollars per month for each child under the age of eighteen year ,,, and WHEREAS the Mayor and the Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, with the consent of a majority of the legal voters of said city voting at an election thereof, has the power to so amend Section 9 of Ordinance Number 4883 of Said City to provide the aforementioned increase in the amount of pensions to be paid to widows of Fire Department members, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That at the general city election to be held in the City of Jefferson, Cole County, Missouri, on Tuesday, the 7th day of April, 1959 , the following proposition shall be submitted to the qualified voters of said city, to-wit: PROPOSITION NO. 1 Should the Pension payable to widows of Fire Department + a members in the City of Jefferson, Missouri be increased f , from the present sum of Fifty ($50.00) Dollars per month with the addition of Ten Dollars per month for each child under the age of eighteen years to the sum of One Hundred ($100 .00) Dollars per month with the addition of Ten Dollars per month for each child under the age of eighteen years? Section 2. That the said election shall be held in all the wards and precincts of said city at the same polling places designated for the election of city officials. Polls of said election shall be open at the hour of 6:OO A.M. and continue open to the hour of 7:OOP.M. on said date. Said election shall be held and conducted and the results thereof shall be certified, canvassed and declared in all respects in conformity with the Constitution and Laws of the State of Missouri governing elections in said City of Jefferson and in accordance with the ordinances of said city. Section 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to 11give notice of said election by publication in the Jefferson City Post Tribune, a newspaper printed and published in the City of Jefferson and of general circulation therein. Said notice shall be published in said newspaper once a week for three consecutive weeks andon the same day in each week. The last publication of said 'notice shal be made not more than three nor less than two weeks preceding the election. Said notice, to be so published, shall be in substantially the following form, to-wit: NOTICE OF ELECTION CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI Notice is hereby given that at the general city election to be held in the City of Jefferson, Coutity of Cole, Missouri, on Tuesday, April 7th, 1959, there will be submitted to the qualified voters of said city the following proposition: PROPOSITION NO. I Should the Pension payable to widows of Fire Department members in the City of Jefferson, Missouri, be increased from the present sum of Fifty ($50.00) Dollars per month with the addition of Ten Dollars per month for each child under the age of eighteen years to -the sum of One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars per month with the addition of Ten Dollars per month for each child under the age of eighteen years? The election will be held at the same voting places in each precinct and ward of the city as the election for city officials. The polls at said election will be open at the hour or 6:00 A.M. and will continue open until the hour of 7:00 P.M. on said date. All persons who are legal voters in said city will be entitled to vote at said election. Voters opposing this proposition will strike out the word "YES". Section 5. If a majority of the voters casting votes thereon at the election is in favor of the proposition, Section 9 of Ordinance Number 4883 of the City of Jefferson shall be amended to provide for the increased pension benefits by the City Council not more than forty five days nor less than .thirty days after said election.
