HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 013-86 09-08-1986 RESOLUTION N0. 13-86 • A RESOLUTION CALLING AND ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION ON JANUARY 17TH, 1987. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS: WHEREAS, a vacancy has resulted in the office of Councilman, City Council, City of Richland Hills, Texas, as a result of the resignation of Councilman Bruce Auld; and WHEREAS, more than 180 days remain on the term of the said Bruce Auld; and WHEREAS, the Home Rule Charter of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, requires that the City Council shall order a special election to fill such vacancy; NOW, THEREFORE, upon motion of Hurdle , seconded • by Agan , the following order calling and ordering a special election on January 17, 1987, for the purpose of filling the vacancy on the City Council was adopted: ORDER FOR SPECIAL ELECTION I. That an election be held in and throughout the City of Richland Hills, Texas, to fill the vacancy on the City Council of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, created by the resignation of Councilman Bruce Auld. The successful candidate shall serve the unexpired term of the said Bruce Auld, which term shall expire in April 1987. II. That for the purpose of holding said election, the following location is hereby designated as the polling place for such election: Richland Hills City Hall, 3200 Diana Drive, Richland Hills, Texas 76118. The polls shall remain open on the day of the election from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. III. The following persons are hereby designated and appointed election officers for the holding of said election: Presiding Judge Russell Miller Alternate Presiding Judge Fred Schroder The Alternate Presiding Judge above named, in the absence of the Presiding Judge, shall perform the duties of the Presiding Judge in said election. The Presiding Judge shall appoint qualified voters who are residents of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, to serve as Clerks in said election, the appointment of such clerks shall include the Alternate Presiding Judge, who if present, shall be appointed and counted as one of the election clerks. IV. Absentee voting in said election shall be conducted at the City Hall of said City, 3200 Diana Drive, in Richland Hills, Texas, and the City Secretary whose address is 3200 Diana Drive, Richland Hills, Texas, is hereby charged with the duty of conducting absentee voting in said election as required by law from December 29, 1986, through January 13, 1987, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. • V. The deadline for candidate(s) filing of an application for a place on the ballot is Wednesday, December 17, 1986, at 5:00 p.m. VI. It is hereby determined that paper ballots shall be used in conducting said election, and that said ballots shall be prepared in conformity with the Election Code of Texas, as amended. VII. Notice of said election shall be given by posting copies of a notice containing a substantial copy of this order at the City Hall and at the aforesaid polling place at least twenty-one (21) days before the election, and by publishing said Order for Special Election at least one time not more than thirty (30) days nor less than ten (10) days prior to said election in the official newspaper of the City of Richland Hills, Texas.
