HomeMy Public PortalAboutr 21-206No. #21 -206 Date of Adoption October 14 2021 AUTHORIZING THE CARTERET PLANNING BOARD TO PREPARE AMENDMENTS TO THE LOCUST - ROOSEVELT REDEVELOPMENT PLAN, THE WASHINGTON AVENUE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN, THE WEST CARTERET MINUE STREET RETAIL REDEVELOPMENT AREA PLAN, THE WEST CARTERET COMMERCIAL REDEVELOPMENT PLAN AND THE 217 -223 ROOSEVELT AND 237 ROOSEVELT AVENUE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN PURSUANT TO THE LOCAL REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING LAW, N.J.S.A. 40A:12A -1 ET SEQ. WHEREAS, the Local Redevelopment and Housing Law, N.J.S.A. 40A:12A -1 et seq., as amended and supplemented (the "Redevelopment Law") provides a process for municipalities to participate in the redevelopment and improvement of areas in need of redevelopment; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council, has previously adopted the Locust - Roosevelt Redevelopment Plan, the Washington Avenue Redevelopment Plan, the West Carteret Minue Street Retail Redevelopment Plan, the West Carteret Commercial Redevelopment Plan and the 217 -223 Roosevelt Avenue and 237 Roosevelt Avenue Redevelopment Plan (tire "Plans "); and WHEREAS, the Governing Body wishes to ascertain if any amendments to the Plans are appropriate for the redevelopment and improvement of the Areas In Need Of Redevelopment sought to be advanced by the various Plans. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: Section 1. The Borough of Carteret Planning Board (the "Planning Board ") is hereby authorized and requested to initiate and prepare any appropriate amendments to the Locust - Roosevelt Redevelopment Plan, the Washington Avenue Redevelopment Plan, the West Carteret Minue Street Retail Redevelopment Plan, the West Carteret Commercial Redevelopment Plan and the 217 -223 Roosevelt Avenue and 237 Roosevelt Avenue Redevelopment Plan, Section 2. The Planning Board is hereby authorized to utilize the services of loon Planning and Consulting Services, LLC, ( "Beacon Planning "), as previously authorized provide such planning services for the Borough, to assist the Planning Board with the paration of any amendments to the aforementioned Plan(s). Section 3. The Borough Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward this ion to the Planning Board for action consistent herewith. Section 4. This resolution shall take effect at the time and in the manner prescribed bylaw. Section 5. Upon the adoption hereof, the Borough Clerk shall forward a copy of resolution to Beacon Planning.
