A special meeting of Council was held to -day at 3100 p.m., in the Council Chamber, and was attended by Mayor Righton who presided, and Councilmen Logan, Lovell, Slotin, May, Young, Haar and Town Attorney Dutton. Councilman Logan moved that the following resolution be adopted, Councilman Lovell seconded and the motion passed; RESOLUTION. WHEREAS, the Charter of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, reuirlis that the election for Mayor and Coun- cilmen of the said Town shall be supervised and managed by three (3) freeholders, all of whom must be duly qualified voters of said Town and shall be named by the Mayor and Councilmen of said Town at least Ten (10) days prior to the date of the election. NOW THEREOFRE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assem- bled, and it is hereby resolved by authority of the same that the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savanna Beach, Tybee island, does now name the three (0)freeholders, J.T.Farrell, W.J.Fitzpatrick, W.J.Moore, and Mrs. S.L.Curry, alternate, all of whom are duly qualified voters of said Town, to manage ,nd supervise the election whioj will be held on the let day of April, 1940, between the hours often (10) o'clock in the forenoon and five (5) o'clock in the afternoon. Councilman Lovell moved that the new Town Hall building be designated as the place to hold the election to be held April let, 1940, ad that the Town Attorney and the Clerk handle the details of election, Councilman Haar seconded and the motion passed. The Mayor informed Council that Major Wallace notified him that he would need $5000.00 at once as he comtemplated start- ing ark on the new seawall March 18th, and he wanted to begin assembling materials for the job, the Mayor stated that some of the property owners along the beach front had not signed the agreements but it was hoped to get them signed up at once. Councilman Fear referring to the note given by the Tybee. Amusement far $552.67 and cancelled by the Town suggested_ that the record be changed to show that the note was can - caelled to offset the sand given by Haarto the WPA for use on the sea-wall, he was informed that the WPA contered that they gave him thousands of dollars worth of work on his property and this would more than compensate for the sand given, after some discussion Councilman Logan suggested that the best way to clear the note was to pay it. A special meeting of Council was held to. -day at 5 :00 p.m., in the Council Chamber, and was attended by Mayor Righton who presided, and Councilmen Lovell, Biotin, May, Young, Haar and Town Attorney Dutton. Councilman Young moved that the following resolution be adopted, Councilman Haar seconded and the motion passed: . RESOLUTION. WHEREAS,the managers duly named by resolution passed by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled on the 15th day of March, 1940, to conduct the election just concluded and held on this the 1st day of April, 1940, at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, for the purpose of electing a Mayor andsix (6) Councilmen, three (3) of whom shall be bona fide residents and domiciled within the cotporate limits.of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee island, and three (3) of whom shall be bona fide residents and domiciled in Chatham Cotnty, outside of the cotporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and who shall own property at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, to hold office until the first Monday in April, 1942, or until their successors have been duly qualified, have made the consolidated returns and /or results to the Mayor and Councilmen calling said election, which consol- idation was done in the presence of and together with the several managers, and, WHEREAS, it appears that H.Y.Righton received the highest number of votes for Mzyor of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island; nd, WHEREAS, CAPT. JOHN DANIELS, Wm.W.HENRY, and JAMES E. McMillan received the highest number' of votes for Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, who are bona fide residents and domiciled within the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and JOSEPH F.GRIFFIN, Wm. S.LOVELL, and MORRIS SLOTIN received the highest number of votes as Councilmen, who are bona fide resddents and domiciled in Chatham County, outside of the corporate limits ofthe Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and kho own property at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled, and it is hereby resolve& by the authority of the same that the result of said election be and the s is hereby declared as electing:
