SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Leland (Billy) Romero started at the golf course as a seasonal employee mowing and doing irrigation. It became apparent that he was someone that the Golf Course needed to find a full-time
position for or possibly lose him. So, the full time Irrigation Supervisor position was created, and Mr. Romero held that position for several years spending most of his days adding
irrigation pipe and heads to Cedar, digging in the rocks.
Mr. Romero moved to the water department for a stint and was brought back to manage the golf course after the superintendent left until the city was able to hire a new superintendent.
At that point he was offered the Assistant position which he held until his retirement.
Mr. Romero has been great when working with the other departments in the city, helping any way he could. He came up with the idea of a city-wide golf tournament to get the departments
together which many city employees looked forward to every year. It was also his idea to put a float in the Winter Carnival Parade and he designed the new entry sign for the golf course.
He has always been good for a laugh and never afraid to stretch the bounds at the annual City Holiday Party. Mr. Romero worked for the City 23 years.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Issue Certificate of Appreciation for years of service.
