WHEREAS, the Charter Commission of this City has submitted
to the City Council a proposed charter for this City which has
been approved for submission to the voters by said charter
• commission; and
WHEREAS, the Charter Commission, by its Resolution of approval
of said charter, has expressed its intent to present the proposed
charter to the United States Justice Department for pre-clearance
prior to the time of the actual election; and
WHEREAS, the Charter Commission has requested the election
for approval or rejection of the proposed charter be set for
August 9, 1986.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, that:
1.
The date of August 9, 1986, between the hours of 7:00 a.m.
and 7:00 p.m. is designated as the time for the election wherein
the proposed charter will be submitted to the voters of this
City for approval or disapproval.
2.
The City Secretary is directed to take all. statutory procedural
steps for submission of the charter at the election.
3.
It being impractical to vote upon the charter section by
section because the various sections are interrelated, the voters
will vote for approval or disapproval of the charter as a whole.
4.
The entire city shall constitute one precinct and the voting
shall take place at the City Hall at 3200 Diana, Richland HiIJ_s,
Texas, 76118.
5.
The appointment of election officials and specific designation
of other necessary procedures, including publication, shall be
prescribed by the City Council in subsequent resolutions after
the proposed charter has been cleared by the United States
Department of Justice.
