Savannah Beach, Tybee Island,
April 1, 1940.
A special meeting of Council was held to. -day at 5 :00 p.m.,
in the Council Chamber, and was attended by Mayor Righton
who presided, and Councilmen Lovell, Biotin, May, Young,
Haar and Town Attorney Dutton.
Councilman Young moved that the following resolution be
adopted, Councilman Haar seconded and the motion passed:
. RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS,the managers duly named by resolution passed by
the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach,
Tybee Island, in Council assembled on the 15th day of March,
1940, to conduct the election just concluded and held on
this the 1st day of April, 1940, at Savannah Beach, Tybee
Island, for the purpose of electing a Mayor andsix (6)
Councilmen, three (3) of whom shall be bona fide residents
and domiciled within the cotporate limits.of the Town of
Savannah Beach, Tybee island, and three (3) of whom shall be
bona fide residents and domiciled in Chatham Cotnty, outside
of the cotporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach,
Tybee Island, and who shall own property at Savannah Beach,
Tybee Island, to hold office until the first Monday in
April, 1942, or until their successors have been duly qualified,
have made the consolidated returns and /or results to the
Mayor and Councilmen calling said election, which consol-
idation was done in the presence of and together with the
several managers, and,
WHEREAS, it appears that H.Y.Righton received the highest
number of votes for Mzyor of the Town of Savannah Beach,
Tybee Island; nd,
WHEREAS, CAPT. JOHN DANIELS, Wm.W.HENRY, and JAMES E.
McMillan received the highest number' of votes for Councilmen
of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, who are bona
fide residents and domiciled within the corporate limits
of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and JOSEPH
F.GRIFFIN, Wm. S.LOVELL, and MORRIS SLOTIN received the
highest number of votes as Councilmen, who are bona fide
resddents and domiciled in Chatham County, outside of the
corporate limits ofthe Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island,
and kho own property at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen
of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council
assembled, and it is hereby resolve& by the authority of the
same that the result of said election be and the s
is hereby declared as electing:

The regular meeting of Council was held to -day at 3 :30 p.m.,
in the Council Chamber, and was attended by May r Righton, who
presided, and Councilmen Lovell, Biotin, Young, May and Haar,
and Town Attorney Dutton.
The minutes of the meetings of February 2nd, 16th, March let,
15th and April 1st were read and adppted.
As this was the last meeting of the old Baadd before it retired frat
office very little business was done.
Councilman Young moved that 2 old doors and anold bath tub be
sold for $7.00 Councilman' Slotin seeonddd and the motion passed.
Councilman Slotin moved that the discount on 1939 taxes be
allowed to C.R.Holm, Councilman Lovell seconded and the motion
passed.
Their_ ,beingrnotfurther business the Mayor called a recess and
the old Board retired Mayor Righton then called the new Board,
consisting of Councilmen -elect J.E.McMtllan, L.S.Lovell, M.
Biotin, J.F.Griffin, Wm. W.Henry and John Daniels, to order,
Judge John Rourke then administired the followiing to Mayor
Righton;
