N ORDINANCE OF' TILE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, CALLING A SPECIAL
ELECTION TO FILL, THE OFFICE OF POLICE JUDGE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSO ,
ISSOURI, ON THE DATE OF AUGUST 2, 1960.
WHEREAS, a vacancy exists in the office of Police Judge of the City
of Jefferson, Missouri, which vacancy was occasioned by the death of
ndrew Schwaller on the 6th day of May, 1960, and
WHEREAS, said vacancy in fhe office of Police Judge has occurred
more than six months prior to the next regularly scheduled general
unicipal election within the City of Jefferson, Missouri, and
WHEREAS, a general election was recently held in the City of Jefferson,
Missouri on April 5, 1960, which election occasioned an expense to
the City of Jefferson, Missouri of approximately Fifteen Hundred
($1500 .00) Dollars, and
WHEREAS, the statewide primary election for county and State offici is
in the State of Missouri is to be held in Cole County and all countl s
of Missouri on August 2, 1960, the first Tuesday of August, 1960, ard
WHEREAS, it is possible to save the citizens and taxpayers of
Jefferson City, Missouri, a substantial sum of money by holding the
special election to fill the office of Police Judge on the same day
as the State Primary Election, now therefore:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSO I,
S FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. At the request of the Mayor of the City of Jefferson,
Missouri, a special election to fill the office of Police Judge, of
the City of Jefferson, Missouri, shall be held in the City of Jeffe o
Missouri, on August 2, 1960, the first Tuesday of August.
SECTION 2. The Mayor of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, shall cause
a proclamation of said election to be published in the Jefferson Ci
Post Tribune, giving at least ten days notice to the residents and
'tizens of the City of Jefferson, Missouri of the holding of said
special election.
SECTION 3. Said election shall be conducted in all respects in
mpliance with the laws of the State of Missouri and the ordinances
of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, governing and relating to the
holding of municipal elections.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in force and effect from and
after its passage and approval.
