Stearns, Rita Bolli Neal. Guest: Kara Jeffus. Location: Event Tent.
Call to Order by Rita Bolli Neal;June Minutes:a motion made by Eric Bouchard to change Ron Ptacheck
to at teaching pro rather than assistant pro in the notes, seconded by Suzanne Gebhards;approved.
Superintendents Report: Eric McCormick
• Staff: Three staff quit since July 4 h,so again, difficult to get projects completed.
• Greens: Held up well during the month but had struggles keeping them wet. Players say that
they are rolling nice. Toodressina and Verticut was completed on 7/13/2021 and spraying will
happen on the 14tn
• Club House: New ramp design is completed and provided to Crestline Engineers.Waiting for
_ final and hoping construction costs don't push us into next year. Bid requests projected to go
out in August for construction at end of September. Sinks and faucets are waiting for
countertops to be sanded and will wait until winter to be completed. New toilets have not been
purchased. The budget money was used to replace two failed water heaters. A new-to-us ice
machine was installed but still needs some work completed by an electrician. Women in the
group brought to Eric's attention the need to repair the bathroom stall door latch in the
basement women's bathroom.
• Club House Parking Lot: Granite will grind and repave the parking lot the last two weeks of
September. Public Works is going to re-stipe it July 1,(is this of 2022?). Advisory Group
suggested crosswalk striping be added to help guide golfers and carts from#2 Birch to#3 Birch.
• Restaurant: Banyan's is busy and open 7 days a week now. They are struggling to find staff,
mostly cooks. The tent is up,and they have had several functions in it.
• Irrigation: Working out issues with sprinkler heads did not aim the correct direction and not
turning. We have had staff doing a lot of hand watering. We also are using more water than our
3 wells will produce so we are supplementing with water off the Davis Beach line that runs to
the water treatment plant. The pump motor on#1 Aspen fountain broke,a new one needs to
be ordered. Now that the budget has been balanced it was determined there was no room for a
fulltime irrigation position this year.
• Tournaments: We had two tournaments in June, and both were full.We also had great weather
during them.We also have had the most play on record for the month of June with revenue way
up.
Professional's Report: Allan Morrison
• Unfortunately,Allen was not in attendance due to illness. This brought up the discussion for a
need to identify a"second in command."
• Budrtet and revenue:The course is$160,180 ahead of income on this date compared to last
year! To follow up on last month's discussion—how much money is going into the masterplan
coffers from greens fees, lockers, passes, and trail fees?
• Tournaments: brief discussion by the group without specifics due to Allan's absence.
• Water has now been provided on the course. Cleanliness of the water jugs is being carefully
monitored by staff and sanitary procedures are in use.
• Water Coolers have been put out as per the city managers request.
Monthly Topic: Review Golf Course Rules and Regulations
• Penalty for disobedience could change from a misdemeanor to a fine.
• Code Enforcement issue brought up about pets on the course. Home owners on Aspen 7 and
Cedar 6 need to be addressed.
• Course marshals need to be better trained about rules and regulations and carry a copy with
them to aid in informing the public as needed.
New Business:
• Allan's contract will be fulfilled in one years'time;the advisory committee will discuss
contracting out management of the course versus hiring a new professional this winter.
• Clarification about the professional's earnings was given;the professionals revenue comes from
cart rentals,range balls,and pro-shop retail.
• The group discussed the need to make city council accountable for help to get more projects
accomplished at the golf course. It is difficult for the Superintendent to get all proposed
projects completed and maintain the course to expected standards.
Old Business:
• The Pavers project is not yet fully funded. The Men's and Women's clubs have both committed
funds to help keep the project afloat.
Next Meeting—August 11t^,2021,5:00 PM,at the event tent.
• Topic: Review of the Mater Plans; In 5 years and Project List.
Meeting Adjourned at 5:15 PM.
