HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD05049 2-04 #5049 AN ORDINANCE TO REPEAL SECTION 8 OF ORDINANCE NUMBER 4720 relating to the fares that the Jefferson City Fines, Inc. , are authorized to charge, and enacting in lieu thereof a new section 8 of said Ordinance Number 4720 authorizing the Jefferson city Lines, Inc. , to establish a new schedule of fares as is hereinafterwards set forth* BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSCN, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. '`hat Section 8 of Ordinance Ilumber 4720 is he,reby repealed and in lieu thereof, a new Section 8 is nhereby enacted authorizing the Jefferson City Lines, Inc. , to establish a new schedule of fares for the operation of their busses in the City of Jefferson. Section 8. FARES. Fares covering one continuous ride between any point on the routes herein specif�ed or as hereinafter provided within the City limits of Jefferson ity, Missouri, shall be as follows: KIND OF FARES RATE For riders over 12 years of age 10� - 2 tokens 15� School children under 12 years of age 3� cash fare School children under 1.2 years of age 2 tokens for 5� children in arms Free Policemen and firemen Free (as hereinafter provided) Transfers shall be issued without charge between routes one (1) and two (2). All transfers shall be limited to the same or diverging directions and within a thirty (30) minute period, and no transfer shall enable a passenger to return to the vicinity from which he started without paying a second fare. A transfer issued shall beused only by the per- son tp who it is issued. the company may make such reasonable regulations as it may deem nec- essary to prevent the misuse of transfer. Policemen and firemen shall be permitted to travel free of charge, when in uniform or upon the presentation of proper credentials. Plain clothes police officers shall be permitted to travel free upon presentation of official pass issued by the company. The company has undertaken to maintain the present rate of fare based upon present wages, materials and commodity costs. If wages, materials and/or commodity costs are increased substantially, the company shall upon due application an d presentation of proof and hearing as hereinafter provided for, be granted an increase in its rate of fare to correspond with such increase in Wages, materials and/or commodity costs. In determining whether such increase had taken place, the United States Department of Labor, 1,,ureau of Labor Statistics, Washington, D. - Index of Vvholesale Prices for al; commodities published to indicate conditions as of the nearest date to the time when such application is made compared with the publication nearest to the date this ordinance takes effect, shall be received along with other evidence &6 evtdei4c4r'0fk ',Gudh tner9gh6;tZnc_00*flqdity costs, and together with the actual increase in wages then in effect, or about to be put into effect shall constitute the basis for an increase in the rate of fare provided, however, that nothing herein shall depr ve
