Application for increase ,in rate of fare may be made by the
company in writing to the City Council who shall , within ten (10)
days after receipt of such application, grant a hearing htereon and
shall within a reasonable time thereafter, fix the rate of fare in
accordance with the provisions hereof.
In determining what should be a reasonable rate of fare the
'City ouncil shall have power to inspect the books of the company and
to coihpel the attendance of witnesses at said hearing.
The company shall have the right to appeal from any decision
of the City Council at any court of competent jurisdiction.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after
its passage and approval.

An Ordinance providing for- the improvement of the roadway of Lougs
brive in the block from the center of the intersection of bou 1g_as _Drive
and plain Street to the center of the intersection of Douglas Drive
and avis treet in the City of Jefferson, Missouri, by paving with
bituminious macadam or cement concrete.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Whereas, it was heretofore found and declared by the
City Council, by its resolution, passed andapproved on May 7th 1948

more than seven (7) consecutive insertions, in the Post-Tribune
a daily newspaper, printed and published in the City of Jefferson,
Missouri, and a majority of the residentx owners of property along
said section of ouglas Drive liable for the costs of said improve-
ment, and who own a majority of the front feet on said ,Loulas Drive
intended to be improved, have not filed with the City - erg- k a protest
against said contemplated improvement.
SECTI"ITT` 2. That the said road of Lou las Drive between the curb li
lines from the intersection of `"ou las Dr ve and Main Street to t e center
of the intersection of ou as rive and Davis 5treet ~`u
n accora—an--c—e—wTth the plans and specifications submitted by the City
Engineer and filed in the office of the City Clerk, and that the total
cost of the work aforesaid shall be charged and levied as a special
assessment against the real estate abutting and fronting on said con-
templated improvement, and special tax bills shall be issued therefor,
as provided in the City charter, and in Section 764,765,766 and 767 of
Chapter 13m of the Revised rd.iances of the City of Jefferson, Missouri,
1941, and of the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri, 1939, and
amendments thereto
Section 3. the City `'ngineer is hereby instructed to advertise
for bids for this improvement.
