AN ORDINANCE CREATING STOP SIGNS AT' THE INTERSECTION OF CERTAIN
STREETS AS HEREINAFTER SET OUT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSO,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Hereafter all motor vehicles, motorcycles, or
other vehicles shall come to a full and complete stop before entering
the intersections named below:
All vehicular traffic traveling in the southerly ditection on
Hub Street Stop on Hub Street before entering the intersection
at McCarty Street.
All vehicular traffic traveling in a so,-itherly. direction on Manilla
S'reet Stop on Manilla Street before entering the intersection at
McCarty Street.
Section 2. 41-ny person violating any of the provisions of this
ordinance shall be guilty of misdemeanor acrd subject to a fine of not
more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) , or imprisonment not to
exceed ninety (90) days, or both fine and imprisonment.
Section 3. his ordinance shall be in force from and after

AN ORDNANCE PROVIDING FOR AND DIRECTING THE SUBMISSION TO THE
QUALIFIED ELECTORS 0' THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, COLE COUNTY, MISSOURI..
AT THE GENERAL CITY,ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY.,
APRIL 5, 1249, OF A PROPOSITION FOR THE INCURRING OF INDEBTEDNESS
AND THE ISSUANCE OF BONDS (DF SAID CITY IN THE XOUNT OF TWENTY-TWO
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($22,,000) FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING ADDITIONAL
APPARATUS USEFUL IN THE EXTINGUISHING OF FIRES.
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council of the City of
Jefferson, Cole County,, Missouri , it has become and is necessary
to purchase additional appartus useful in the extinguishing of fires;
and
WHEREAS, the said Cou ncil estimates that the cost of such
additional apparatus will be Twenty-Two Thousand Dollars ($22,000) ;

HWEREAS, the aforesaid sum exceeds the current income and
revenues of said "ity, and funds therefor are not now available in
the City Treasury; and -
WHEREAS, the said City is authorized under the �onstifaution
and Laws of the State of Missouri to incur indebtedness for the
aforesaid purpose upon the assent of two-thirds of the qualified
electors of said City voting thereon at air election to be held for
that purpose., and provided that the amount of such indebtedness.,
when added to all outstanding indebtedness of said City, shall not
exceed any limit prescribed by the constitution and Laws of the
State of Missouri; and
WHEREAS, the value of taxable tangible property within said
City, as ascertained byrthbaasseadmentrif pr:,'state:,arid c ounty purposes
made as of January if 1948,. and being the last completed assessment
prior to the date of the election hereinafter provided for, was as
follows:

be incurred, when added to the aforesaid outstanding indebtedness,

NOW,THEREFORE, That at the general city election to be held in

of.-April, 19499 there shall be submitted to the qualified electors of
said City the followi g proposition, to-wit: ,

Shall the City of Jefferson, Cole Gounty, Missouri ,
Incur an indebtedness in the amount of Twenty-two
thousand Dollars ($22,000) for the purpose of pur-
chasing additional apparatus useful in: the extin-
guishing of fires, and evidence such indebtedness
by the issuance of bonds of said 6ity in said amount
for said purpose?

of bond election as prescribed in Section 5 hereof.
SECTION 3. That the election on the aforsaid proposition
shall be conducted by the several judges appointed to serve at the
said general election and by theclerks of said general city election.
SECTION 4. That the said polling places shall be opened on
the day of said general city election at the hour of 6 o'clock A.M.
and shall remain open until the hour of 7 o 'clock P.M. on said date.

shall be certified and declared in all respects in conformity with the
Cohstitution and -Laws of the State of Missouri goverLiing elections
in the said Gity of Jefferson, and in accordance with the ordinances

SECTION 5. That the City- t'lerk be and is hereby authorized
and directed to give notice of the cubmission of the aforesaid
proposition at the * 'publication
in the Daily Capital News, a newspaper printed and pbulished in the
City Of Jefferson 8:tid of general circulation therein/ The said notice

shall be published in said newspaper once a week for four con-
secutive weeks and on the same day in each week. "he first pub-
lication of said notice shall be made at least twenty-one days
before the date of said election and the last publication shall be
made within two weeks of the date of said election. The said notice,
to be published, shall be in substantially the following form;

NOTICE is hereby given that at the general city electin
to be held in the Gity of Jefferson, Cole county, Missouri,

TUESDAY, THE 8th DAY OF APRIL, 1949,
there will be submitted to the qualified electors of said
City the following proposition, to-wit:
PROPOSITION
Shall the City of Jefferson, Cole ounty, Missouri,
incur an indebtedness in the amount of Twenty-two

SECTION 6. That the City . �'lerk be and he is here,)y authorized
and directed to furnish the judges and clerks of said general city
election with all poll books., tally sheets, ballots, ballot boxes, a
and other supplies necessary for the conduct of the election herein J
provided for, and the ballots to be provided for the submission of
the aforesaid bond issue proposition shall be prepared ,separately
and apart from any other ballots which may be re-quired by law to be

SECTION 7, That the City Clerk shall be and he is directed
to traamit a certified, copy of this ordinance to the Board of Regis-
trars of the City of Jefferson, and that said Board and the members
thereof be and are hereby requested to take such action as may be
required of them by law in the premises.
SECTION 8. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict with this ordinance shall be and the same are hereby re-
pealed, insofar as they may so conflict.
SECTION 9. That this ordinance shall tdce effect and shall
be in force from and after. its passage and approval.
