RESOLUTION NO. 6-90
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT
APPLICATION TO THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISON OF THE
GOVERNORS OFFICE FOR FUNDING OF A MULTI-AGENCY DRUG
ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION PROGRAM CONSISTING OF HALTOM
CITY, NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, WATAUGA, AND RICHLAND HILLS,
TEXAS.
WHEREAS, in order for the Richland Hills Police Department to
participate in acquiring funding for the multi-agency D.A.R.E.
project it is necessary to present an application to the Criminal
Justice Division of the Governor's Office; and
WHEREAS, the Criminal Justice Divison of the Governor's Office has
made funding available to assist in drug education programs; and
WHEREAS, there is a great need to combat drug abuse among the youth
population in Richland Hills, Watauga, Haltom City and North
Richland Hills, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the police departments of these consortium cities in
cooperation with the Birdville Independent School District wish to
. continue with this program;
NOW THEREFORE BE I T RESOLVED BY THE C I TY COUNC I L OF THE C I TY OF
RICHLAND Y.ILLS, TEXAS:
That the City of Richland Hills requests from the Criminal
Justice Division of the Governor's Office continued funding for
"Project D.A.R.E.", a program to provide elementary and middle
school students the necessary skills to recognize and resist the
many pressures taht influence the use of alcohol and drugs.
PRESENTED AND PASSED on this the 1st day of May 1990 by
a vote of 4 ayes and 0 nays at a ular meeting of the
City Council of the City of Richland Hill .
