AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 4 OF ORDINANCE 1410. 50939 REGULATING
THE USE OF FLAMURBEE LIQUIDS BY DELETING THEREFROM THE FIRST TWO

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BfEFFERSON, MISSOURI,
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 4 of Ordinance No. 5083, renilating the
use of flammable liquids, is hereby amended by deleting therefrom the
first two paragraphs, and substituting in liwu thereof two new
paragraphs, relating to the same subject, and to reas as follows:
"Section 2. C01ITTAINERS FOR FLANNABLE LIQU"IDS. Aboveground
torage (except in barrels or drums with individual capacity of
IOp gallons or less as provided in Section 9 and 10) shall be in
all-steel gas-tight tanks, of not more than 1000 gallons
capacity, constructed in accordance with nationally- recognized
standards.
Buried tanks for the storage of flammable liquids shall riot
exceed 1000 gallons capacity, shall have tops at least
two feet below the surface of the ground and whenever located under
dirveways, buildings or otherwise subject to traffic of heavy
vehicles shall be otherwise protected as required by the building
inspector. Tanks shall be suitably protected against corrosion arid,xNkJffX
where subiect to floating. shall be securely anchored of weighed. "
Section 2. It is hereby declared to be the purpose of the
City Council, in enacting this ordinance, to provide emergency
legislation to preserve the safety of the city until suitable
lebislation can be formulated, and therefore, this ordinance shall
take effect and be in force, from and after its )assage and approval
and until February 5, 1951
