lating to the same subject.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERS01,1,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That Section 565-B of Ordinance Ido. 4633 of the
City of Jefferson, Missourk, relating to the, permits for an
occupation license for retail sale of cigarette and providing for
the method of payment thereof and providing means and met ods for the
administration rand enforcement thereof, be and the same :,6
hereby repealed, and-that in lieu thereof a new section, to be
known as Section 565-B, relating tot he same subject, be and the
same is hereby enacted to read as follows ;
Section 565-B. Every person engaged in the retail busi :-!ess
of selling cigarettes or offering or displaying the sane for
sale within the City shall procure a license therefor for each
place of business that he desires to have for the sale of cig-
arettes in the City, ad at the time such license is issued, shall
pay the City Collector the sum of One Dollar 0,1.00) as a ref istration
fee for each place of business , and in addition thereto, each such mad
p- rson, engaged in said business, shall pay an occLlaationa tax at
the rate of Oa and 50/100 Dollars ($1/50) per thousand for each
and a 11 cigarettes so s old or offered or displayed for sale .
The intent 'and meaning of this ordiance is that 'the same shall
ldvy an occupation tax based upon and pursuant to the method pro-
vided for by Section 6986, Revised Statutes of Vissouri, 1939, as
amended, and pursuant to the powers therein granted, and the powers
further *ranted under the Statutes of Missouri to Cities of the
Third Class. Said tax shall be paid and the stamps hereinafter pro-
vided for dnall be affixed by the person selling such cigarettes
or displaying or offering the seat e for sale, after the same shall
have come to rest in this city, a-d before being displayed or
offered for sale by any retail dealer in this city.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage and approval.
