BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY CoUi?CIL CP THE' CITY OF' JEFFERSOIi, r ISSOURI AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. yhe Police ''oard of the City of Jefferson is hereb, authorized, di:-ected and empowered to maintain a constant vigilance r' over all taxicabs; shall inspect all such vehicles to ascertain that they are in a thoroughly safe condition for tre transportation of passengers, clean, fit, of good appearance, well and appropriately painted as such for the use of taxicabs and r,pperly designated as taxicabs. uch inspection shall be made ai,nually beforenthe issuance of any liceizse therefor, and shall be . :lade thereafter from time to time, or on the complaint of any person, as often as nay be nec- essary to ascertain that such taxicabs are kept in a condition of continued fitness for public use. Said Police 3oard may forbid the use of any vehicle by the owner thereof, found to be unfit or unsuited for public ;patronage and taxicab purposes. Reports in writing of all inspections shall be made and kept on file in the Police Board records. whenever any vehicle shall have been found to be unfit or unsuited for )ublie patronage and taxicab Purposes, its use forbidden by said Police "oard shall make it unlawful for the owner or operator thereof to further use such vehicle as a taxicab. Section 2. -''or the annual inspection above prescribed in Section 1, said Police Bx rd shall receive a fee of two dollars 0;2.00) for each taxicab inspcct6dy which fee shall be paid by the owner or operator thereof at the time of mal long auch inspection, but nothing herein contained shall be so construed - as- authorizing said Police Board to charge or collect more than one inspection fee per year in the same taxicab, said ;sees so collected shall be turned over and deposited in the i,eneral revenue fund of the �'ity of Jefferson, Section 3. Section4. All Ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 5. ilhis ordinance shall be in force from and after its passage and approval. Amendment to `'rdinaice No. 5394 by deleting the period at the end of the first dentence of Sect.b n 1 and inserting a comma in lieu thereof. , and adding the following words to said sentence, "by appropriate signs painted on each side of each such taxicab."
