Ellis PresiaenE of e Council Mayor #5560 TO REPEAL ORDINANCE NO. 5474, RELATING T.0 THE FARES THAT THE JEFFERSON CITY LINES, INC. , ARE AUTHROIZED TO CHARGE, AND ENACT* ING IN LIEU THETEOF A NEW ORDINAI CE NO. 5560, AUTHORIZING THE JEFFERSON CITY LINES, INC. , TO ESTABLISH A NEW SCHEDULE OF FARE AS IS HEREINAFTERI:'ARDS SET FORTH. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF `EFFERSOId, IISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: i SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 5474 is hereby repealed and in lieu thereof a new Ordinance, No. 5560, is hereby enacted authorizing the Jefferson City Lines, Inc. , to establish a new schedule of fares for the operation of their busses in the City of Jefferso �. ORDINANCE NO. 5560 Fares covering one continuous ride between any points oni� the routes herein specified or as hereinafter provided within t ie city limits of Jefferson Uity, Missouri, shall be as follows: 1 KIND OF FARE RATE Adult fare ' 10X - 2 tokens for 25X i Children 13 to 18 years oncl. �'hildren 50 to 12 years Incl. 05X 1 Children between aEes of 1 year and 4 ,years , when accompanied by an adult fare Free Policemen and roreman Free (as hereinafter provided) Transfers shall be issued without charge between routes one (1) and two (2). All transfers shall be limited to the same or delivering direction and within a thirty (30) minute period, and no i transfer shall enable a passenger to return to the vicinity { from which he started without paying a second fare. I A transfer issued shall be used only by the person to whom it is issued. The Company may make such reasonable regula- tions as it may deem necessary to prevent misuse of the transfer. Policemen and I"iremen shall be permitted to traflel free of charge, when in uniform or upon presentation of proper credentials. Plain clothes police officers shall be permi- tted to travel free upon presentation of an official pass issued by the corm any. The company has undertaken to maintain its present rate of fare based upon present wa es, materials and commod- ity costs. If wages, materials and�or commodity costs are increased substantially, the company upon due application and presentation of proof and hearings as hereinafter pro- vided for, be granted an increase in its rate of fare to correspond with such increase in w-ges, materials and com- modity costs. In determining whether such increase has taken place, the United States Department of Labor, "ureau of Labor Statistics, Washington, D. C. Index of "holesale Prices for all commodities published, to indicate conditions as to the nearest date to the time when such application is made com- pared to the publication nearest to the date this ordinance takes effect, shall be received along with other evidence as evidence of such increase costs, and together with the actual increase in wages then in effect, or about to be -.3ut into effect, shall constitute the basis for an increase in the rate } of fare, provided, however, that nothing herein shall deprive ! the City of any rights it has to regulate the rate of fares. . Application for an increase in the rate of fare may'. be made by the company in writing to the City Council who shall, within ten (10) days after receipt of such application, grant a hearing thereon and shall within a reasonable time thereafter„ fix the rate of fare in accordance with the -provisions hereof. In determining what shall be a reasonable rate of fare the City Council shall have the power to inspect the books of the company and to compel the attendance of witnesses at said hearing The shall have the ri#ht to appeal from any de- cision of t�omErny e ity Council to any Court of competent jurisdiction This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.
