HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 001-92 02-11-1992 1-92 • RESOLUTION CALLING AN ELECTION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS: 1. That an election shall be held to elect one (1) Mayor and two (2) Councilmembers in Places 2 and 4 for a two-year term between the hours of 7:00 o'clock a.m. and 7:00 o'clock p.m. on May 2, 1992, in said City, at the following designated polling place: City Hall 3200 Diana Drive Richland Hills, Texas Said City shall constitute a single election precinct for said election. • 2. That eligible persons wishing to become candidates must file application with the Mayor or City Secretary of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, on or before the 18th day of March, 1992, until 5:00 o'clock p.m. Applications will not be accepted prior to February 17, 1992. 3. That early voting shall be conducted by personal appearance and by mail at the City Hall, Richland Hills, Texas, during the period early voting is required or permitted by law, being April 13, 1992, through April 28, 1992, the hours designated for early voting by personal appearance shall be from 8:00 o'clock a.m. to 5:00 o'clock p.m. on each day except Saturdays, Sundays and legal state holidays; and the early voting clerk shall keep said early voting place open during such hours for early voting by personal appearance. The early voting clerk for said election shall be the City Secretary. 4. That all resident, qualified electors of said City shall be entitled to vote at said election. 5. That notice of said election shall be given by posting a notice in compliance with the Texas Election Code on the bulletin board used for posting notices of City Council meetings located at the City Hall, in such manner that said notice is visible to the public 24 hours per day, seven days per week, not later than the 30th day prior to the date set for the election; and a copy of said notice also shall be published in a newspaper of general circulation in said City, not earlier than the 30th day or later than the 10th day prior to the date set for said election. • RESOLUTION CALLING AN ELECTION Page 1 . 6. That the following persons shall be the Officers who shall conduct the election: Presiding Judge: Russell Miller 3725 Scranton, Richland Hills, Tx. (Address) 7 6118 Alternate Presiding Judge: Ol a Jame s 3106 Ash Park, Richland Hills, Tx. (Address) 7 6118 The Presiding Judge shall appoint not less than two nor more than five qualified election clerks to serve and assist in conducting said election; provided, that if the Presiding Judge actually serves as expected, the Alternate Presiding Judge shall serve as one of such clerks. 7. The Presiding Judge, Alternate Presiding Judge and such election clerks as are appointed by the Presiding Judge shall also serve as the Early Voting Ballot Board for such election. 8. The City Secretary shall deliver copies of this Resolution to the Presiding Judge and Alternate Presiding Judge appointed herein not later than the twentieth day after the date of this Resolution, which copies so delivered shall constitute notice to the Presiding Judge and Alternate Presiding Judge of their appointment as • provided by law. 9. That said election shall be held in compliance with the Charter of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, and the Texas Election Code. 10. That the one person in the Mayor's race receiving a majority of votes cast in the mayoral election shall be declared to be elected as Mayor for a two-year term. The one person in each of Places 2 and 4 receiving the highest number of votes shall be deemed to have been elected as the Councilmember in that particular place for atwo-year term. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, by a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays and abstentions this 11th day of February, 1992.
