HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 026-93 11-09-1993 RESOLUTION NO. 2 6 - 9 3 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING DRUG-FREE ZONES. WHEREAS, the 73rd Legislature of the State of Texas passed Senate Bill 16, establishing drug-free zones around schools, institutions of higher learning, playgrounds, public and private youth centers, public swimming pools and video arcade facilities; and WHEREAS, since Senate Bill 16 provides for a doubling of the minimum term of confinement or imprisonment and of the maximum fine for certain drug-related offenses committed within such drug-free zones; and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 16 also provides for the preparation of a map by the City Engineer for the purpose of showing the location and boundaries of such drug-free zones, for use as evidence in the prosecution of certain drug-related offenses; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, desires by this resolution to approve the map prepared by the City's Engineer as an official finding and record of the location and boundaries of drug-free zones within the City of Richland Hills, Texas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS: I. That the map attached hereto as Exhibit "A" is hereby approved as an official finding of the Richland Hills City Council and is a record of the location and the boundaries of drug-free zones within the City of Richland Hills, Texas, under the provisions of subchapter D of Chapter 481 of the Texas Health and Safety Code. Be it further resolved by the City Council of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, that the City Engineer is hereby directed to file a certified copy of the approved map attached hereto with the county clerk of Tarrant County, Texas.
