BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, PS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Ordinances numbers 2748, Article XV, Sections 1-7 Inclusive, and Ordinances 3553 and 3647 of the City of Jeffer- son, Missourim relating to the licensing of motor vehtdles owned ! and operated on the streets of this city and the issuance of du- Plicate licnese stickersm and providing a penalty for the violations thereof, be and the same are hereby repealed. i Section 2. Definitions. When used in this ordinance the following words wiTT have the following meaning: ( a) Residarit. Any person, firm or corn-)ration, or manager, ages or emp oyee thereof, operating a motor vehicle on the streets of Jefferson City, when said operator has living 1 quarters within the corporate limit of said city and actuary dwells or lives within, and has dwelled or lived within said living quarters, for a period of time not less than four days of each week for six consecutive weeks immediately proceeding the date of an alleged violation of the terms of this ordi- � nance. (b) Nonresident. `yny person, firm or corporation, or managerr. agent or employee thereof, operating a motor vehicle on they s•tre-ts of Jefferson City upon which motor vehicles is dis- played a presently effective license sticker of any other municipality of this state or any state. t� 1� Section 3. Motor Vehicle Tax. Every resident deal-or of motor vehicles, wF under the motor vehicle laws of the State of Miasouri , shall have obtained a dealer' s general distinctive ;? number, may instead of registering each motor vehicle dealt in as provided herninbCfore, register with the Collector of the City of Jefferson such distinctive number so awarded by the "tnte, the name of theprrson, association or corporation to whom ns:gigned and ' the bUSixless address thereof, Rnd on Dayment of the refri itration i' fee of five ($5. 00) dollars, may receive from the Gity Collector a certificate of registration, b3aring thereon the date of issue and t the year for which issued and also five license plates. Such person, association or corporation may obtain as many additional 1license plates as may be desired by presenting to the City Collec- ii � for the certificate of registration and paying not less than five ! ($5.00) dollars for each additional set of five license plates. fIt shall be the duty of the City Collector to endorse, both on the certificate of registration and on the .records retained in his l office , all of the city license plate numbers issued under the ! certificate of registration. License plates so issued shall be l placed and used only on motor vehicles bearing a state dealer's I! license plate. Those qualifying and registering under this section shall be subject to all of the regulations imposed by ordinance i on other registrants and liable under the penalties presecribed. .I I' Section 5.Issuance of License Stickers. It .shall be the duty of the City =olIector to furnish each owner registering a motor vehicle with a registration or license sticker upon pay- ment of the amount designated in this ordinance, and the owner shall thereupon conspictously display and affix such license sticker on -the lower right hand corner of the windshield of said motor vehicle. Section 6. Horse.. ower.Ratin . `if he horse power of all (► motor vehicles for .e purpose of etermining the cost of the license sticker thereupon shall be determined according to the rating provided and established by the laws of the State of M.tssouri for ascertaining the cost of State License plates. Section 7.—License -Sticker Renewal. License Stickers shall be renewed anua�y -n the same manner and upon payment 1 of the same fees as set out in this ordinance, said license i sticker to take effect on the first day of July of each year y and said license sticker shall expire on succeeding thirtieth ! II day of June. r Section B. Semi-Annual or Quarterly Registration. If the (1 application for license stir �er on a motor vehicle is made during the period beginning January 1st and ending March 31st, !! one half of the annual License fee shall be paid. If the application is made during the )eriod from April 1st to dune 30th, one fourth of the annual license fee shall be paid. �I Section 9. Evidence of Ownership. Duplicate copies of motor vehicle license stickers may be obtained from the City Collector upon satisfactory proof of the destruction or loss of the original license sticker and upon payment of the sum of twenty five (25) cents � II ! Whenever the original sticker is destroyed, or the wind- shield upon which said sticker was placed is broken, or upon h the Bale of the motor vehicle carrying a city license stickers the ity Collector, upon satisfactory proof, may issue a dup- ! licate license sticker. Satisfactory proof shall be deemed to be the exhibiting to the ity Collector of a sufficient por- tion of the license sticker as will disclose that the original } license sticker is destroyed to such a degree as to be no longer usable.
