� Section 1. Ordinances Numbers 3387, 3990, 42Q69 4466, 4753, 5156
and 5503 of the City of Jefferson, Missouri rolating to the
( fire chief and members of the fire department be and is hereby
repealed.
Section 2. The Fire Department of the Cit"T of Jefferson shall
consist of a Fire Chief rind twenty additional firemen.
Section 3. Two of the fireilien sr,ill Tie desi,;-nnted Assistant
Fire Chiefs. The assistant fire chiefs shall nerform any and all
duties assigned to them by the Fire Glhi'of. The assistant fire
chiefs shall be appointed by the Fire Board with the approval
and consent of the City Council.
IF)ection 4. Three of the firemen shall be designated Fire Captains.
'I The fire captains 0-all nerforri and all, duties acsigned to them by
the Fire Chief. The fire captains shall be appointed by the Fire
Board with the aiDorovel and consent of the City Council
Section 5. The memr)crs of the Fire. Department shall be appointed
by the Fire CTiief, by and v,-ith the consent of the fire wardens

Section 11. If a f.'i.ro hrrr}ts out in the City, the Dire Chief shall
take proper measures for the arrnnrement of the rotor fire trucks
and the .fire an:3oratus in the most advantageous posl.tion so thnt �
it works for the effective extinquishment of the fire . It is also
the diAty of the fire chief to cause order to be preserved or
going to, working Est, or returning from fires , and at all times �
when the men of the fire department are on duty. j
Section 12. The fire chief and Pirernen shall also see that all.
goods are removed from any building on fire to a place of safety,
if possible, and are authorized to insure the safety of the same
and authorized to demolish nny house if necessary to nrevent the
fire from spreading.
Section 13. In the case of absence of the fire chief at any fire
that may occur in the city, by reason off' si cl:noss or absence from
the city, it shall he his duty to designate some member of the
fire department to act in his place , who shall have the same �
powers as the fire chief during* said period of absence of the I
fire chief.
Section 14. The firemen shall. work in twelve (12 ) hour shifts,
the hours of service to be nrrarged `)y the fire chief to the best II
interests of the city so as to ren,ier the one.rnt i_on of seid fire �
department as efficient as nossible, but at least half the mei,lbers

Section 15. The Assistant Fire Chiefs, Fire Cnntains and the
regular firemen may be removed for neglect of duty, cr for any i
other suff-icient cai.isc. , by t;he .fine chief. , fire gardens or a
ma4ority of the City Council. All firemen shall be a000inted �
subs ..ct to increase or decrease in salaries, and the Council has
tr o right to increase or decrease the salaries of the firemen as
the Council deems; proper.
Section. 15. No fire cr ref' or rramber of the fire department shall
take part in any election, except to vote . No member of the fire
department shall be di solhrargcd because of religious or political
views or principles .
Section 17. No alcoholic beverages shall be allowc.,d or drunk in
the fire station or in an-, other premises used by the .fire depart-
ment. Any member of the f!re denartn. ent who shall be found drun4,
while during his hours of duty, shall be discharged.

Section 18. It shall be the dit of the Fire Chief to Appoint
fifteen (15) volunteer firemen on whom he, may call in cage of an
emergency* such as which is beyond the capac i.tv of the
remilar fire-fi-hting force , or anv unus!tP1 (,atsstrcnhe , bor.ibing,
