HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 033-94 02-08-1994 RESOLUTION NO. 33-94 A RESOLUTION STATING INTENT TO REGULATE BASIC TIER CABLE TELEVLSION RATES. WHEREAS, the Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992 provides that municipalities may regulate the rates charged by cable television operators for basic service tier and other related equipment charges to subscribers within the corporate limits of that municipality; and WHEREAS, the City of Richland Hills, Texas, in accordance with the Cable Act of 1992 and regulations adopted thereunder by the Federal Communications Commission has filed appropriate documents with the FCC to obtain certification to regulate the basic service tier rates and related equipment and installation charges of all cable operators within the City; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, desires by this resolution to ratify the actions of the City in filing for certification to regulate basic service tier cable rates within the City, and to give notice to the general public of its intent to begin regulating basic service tier and related equipment charges to subscribers within the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS: That the City by this resolution does hereby state its intent to become certified to, and thereafter to regulate basic service tier and related equipment charges to cable television subscribers within the corporate limits of the City of Richland Hills, Texas. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, by a vote of ayes, nays and abstentions this Rth day of February 1994. C. F.
