COUPON BONDS OF SAID CITY TO TIME AMOUNT OF TWO HUNDRED THOUSAP: D
($2000000.00) DOLLARS, A::D TO AUTHORIZE ThE LEVY Ar D COLLECTION
OF AN ANNUAL TAX IN ADDITION TO THE TAXES PROVIDED FOR BY LAW,
SUFFICIENT TO PAY THE INTEREST ON SAID BONDS AS THE SANE BECOMES
DUE, AND TO CONSTITVfE A SII''KING FUND FOR THE PM- ENTT OF THE PRINih
CIPAL THEREOF, WITHIN TWENTY (20) YEARS FROM TIME PATE, THEREOF, FOR
THE PURPOSE OF THE ERECTION OF A MUNICIPAL OFFICE BUILDING, AND TO
ACQUIRE BY PURCHASE, GIFT OR OTHERWISE, A SITE ORE LAND NECESS ARY
THEREFOR: DESIGNATING THE TIME OF HOLDII,G SAID ELECTION, AND FIXING
TIIE POLLING PLACES FOR SAID ELECTION: APPOINTING THE JUDGES AND
CLERKS TO CONDUCT- SAID ELECTION, AND PRESCRIBING THE FORId OF
BALLOT TO BE USED THEREAT: AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK OF SAID
CITY OF JEFFERSON, TO GIVE PROPER NOTICE, BYSTATUTE TROVIDED,
CALLING SAID ELEC.:TION AND NOTIFYING THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF SAID
CITY OF THE TIME, PLACE OF HOLDING SAID ELECTION, AND THE NATURE
AND PURPOSEsTHEREOF.
WHEREAS, the common coi:ncil of the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, deem it expedient to submit to the qualified
voters of the City of Jefferson, Milssouri, at a special election
to be held pursuant to the terms and provisions hereinafter pro-
vided for, the question of incresaing the indebtedness of said

city to the amount of Two undred Thousand ($200,000.00) Dollars,
and issuing the negotiable coupon bonds of said city therefor,
for the purpose of building a municipal office building, and to
acquire by purchase, gift or otherwise, a site or land necessary
therefor;
AND, IFlHEREAS, THE AMObTT OF BONDS NOW Poposed to
be issued, to-wit, Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00)
when added to the existing outstanding indebtedness of the City,
will not, in the aggregate, exceed five per centum (%) of the
assessed valuation of taxable property in said City, as ascer-
tained by the assessment next before the last assessment for State
and County purposes previous to the incurring of such indebtedness;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT 'ORDAINED by the council of
the City of Jefferson, Missouri, as follows:
SECTION 1. That a special election be, and the same is here-
by called and ordered to be held in the City of Jefferson, Coley.
County, Missouri, on Tues6ay , the 27th day of Fgbrua�yA.D.,
1940, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of said
city, the proposition to increase the indebtedness of said city
to the amount of Two Hundred Thousand ($2002000,00) Dollars for the
purpose of the erection of a municipal office building, and to ac-
quire by purchase, gift or otherwise, a site or land necessary
therefor, and to authorize the levy and collection of an annual
tax in addition to the other taxes provided for by law, sufficient
to pay the interest on said bonds as the same becomes due and to
constitute a sinking fund for the payment of the principal thereof,
within twenty (20) years from tree date thereof; said bonds to bear
interest at not to exceed six per cent (6;1�) per annum.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk of the City of Jefferson,
Mrtssouri, be, and is hereby authorized and directed to give notice
o� said election 'by causing to be published in the Jefferson
City Post ,Tribune a daily newspaper printed and
published in the City of Jefferson, Missouri, and of general cir-
culation in said city, a notice of the time and place and the pur-
pose of holding said election, said notice to be published for
three (3) consecutive weeks, the i'irst publication to be at least
twenty-one (21) days before the last publication, and the last
publication to be within two weeks of the date of said election.
Said election s1�a11 be held and conducted,and the result thereof
shall be canvassed in all respects in conformity with the constitu-
tion and laws of the State of I.Iissouri, governing; elections in said

City of Jeffersor , and in accordance with the ordinance duly adopted
by the common council of said city.
SECTIMM 3. That the ballot to be used at said election, shall
be in substantially the following form, to-v1it:
"SPECIAL ELECTION
OFFICIAL BALLOT
PROPOSITION to increase the indebtedness of the
City of Jefferson, Mlssouri, to the amount and
sum of Two Hundred Thousand ($200,000.00) Dollars
and to issue tine negotiable coupon bonds of said
City of Jefferson therefor, for the purpose of
providing funds for the erection of a municipal
office building, and to acquire by purchase, gift or
otherwise, a site or land necessary therefor, and to
authorize the levy and collection of an annual tax
in addition to the other tares provided by law,
sufficient to pay the interest on said bonds as
the same becomes due, and to constitute a sinking
fund for the payment of the principal therefor,
within twenty (20) years from the date thereof, said
bonds to bear interest at not to exceed six per
cent (6%) per annum.

Voters favoring this proposition, will erase or scratch
the word "No" .
Voters opposing this proposition, will erase or scratch
the word "Yes" .
SECTION 4. That the polling places for said election shall
be as followsa, to-wit:
(a) All the-election precincts in the First Ward of the
City of Jefferson, are hereby combined in one precinct or election
district for the purpose of this special election, and the _
Fariview School House _ in said First Ward' is hereby designated
as the polling place in the First Ward.
(b) All the election precincts in the Second Ward of the
City of Jefferson, are hereby combined in one precinct or election
district for the purpose of this special election, an d the Coe _
County ourt H use _ in said Second 'Hard is hereby designated as
the polling place is the Second Ward.
(c) All the election precincts in the Thiid Ward of the City
of Jefferson, are hereby combined in one precinct or election district f
for the purpose of this special election, and tile_ Old West Erid Grade
School in said Third Ward is hereby designated as the polling
place in the Thrid Ward.
(d) Election precincts OnP and Two in the Fourth Ward
of the city of Jefferson, are hereby combined in one precinct or
election district for the purpose of this special election and the
Co1e_Cou:�ty,,.ronument_ .. _ in said Fourth 'N,-rd isriereby desig-
nated as the polling place for the First and Second
precincts in
such Ward.

and the 'Trippensee Garage ' in said Fifth Ward is hereby
deSi nated as the polling place for the First and Third
precincts in such Ward.
Election precincts Two and Four , in the Fifth Ward of
the City of Jefferson, are hereby combined in one precinct pr
election district for the purpose of this special election and
the Reisdorff' s Barber ShoD, 51 Clarke Ave.in said Fifth Ward is
hereby designated as the polling place flor the Second and
Fou .11 _ precincts in such Ward.
SECTION 5. Thqt the following named persons are hereby
designated and ac:pointed to act as judges and clerks of this
special election, to—wit:
