HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD04309 4.4 0 #4309 AN ORDINANCE providing for the regulation of the hours of closing of barber shops, providing that barber shops shall remain closed on certain named legal hollidays; providing penalty for the vio- lation of this ordinance; providing for the repeal of Ordinance No. dealing with same subject. WHEREAS, the State of IAissouri has by an Act entitled "An act authorizing all incorporated Cities, Towns and Villages to pass,alter, amend and repeal ordinances regulating the closing hours of barber shops and beauty shops", provided and authorized- incorporated cities to regulate the hours of closing of barber shops, said act being found at page 306, Laws of Missouri 1935. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. It is hereby provided that all barber shops in the 01tty of Jefferson shall remain closed between the hours of 6:00 P.M., and the hours of 8:00 A.M., except on Saturday of each week, and on Saturday of each creek said barber shops may remain open until 8:00 P.M. ; and when a holiday falls on a Saturday, said barber shops may remain open until 8:00 P.T.% the proceeding Friday; and all barber shops in the City of Jefferson shall remain closed oy , the following named holidays, to-wit: May 30, Memorial Day; July 4; Independence Day; First Monday in September, Labor Day; 11th day of Nobember, Armistice Day; on Thanksgiving Day, and Thanksgiving Day shall be that day proclaimed and set aside by the Governor of the State of 14issouri as Thanksgiving; the 25th. day of December, Christmas Day; January 1, New Year' s Day; provided, however, that w4en any of the above named holidays fall on Sunday, tiie barber shops in the City of Jefferson steal observe the following 11onday and shall remain closed on the following 1Tnnday. Section 2. It shall be lawful for barbers to perform such services as may be requested by customers who enter the barber shop before 6:00 P.M.
