WT-IEREAS, the City Coun-4.1 of the City of 'Jefferson
City, Cole County, I"issouri, by Ordinance No. 4313, duly and
regularly adopted at a regular meeting of said City Council_
held on the 4-th day of "'arch, 1440, and approved by the Mayor
of said City on the 5th day of ",:arch, 1440, did direct that
there be submitted to the qualified voters of said City at the
general municipal election held therein on the 2nd day of April.,

WTHEREAS, the City Clerk dial, on t:le 16th day of April,
1940, transm.-P, said returns of said election to this City Council;

SECTION 1„ That the proposition to increase the indebtedness of
the City of Jefferson City, T,Ussouri ; the Burn of Nineteen
Thousand Dollars(" 19,000) for the purpose of purchasing additional
apparatus useful in the extinguj.shfng of. fires, and to issue bonds
of said City in said amount for said purpose, submitted at the
general municipal election held in said City on the 2nd da, of
April, 194.0, be and the said proposition is her(:,by declared to have
been assented to by a majority of more: than twn-thirds of the
qualified voters of said Cit;,r voting at said +election on said
proposition.
SECTION 2. That there are hereby authorized and ordered to be
prepared and issued, bonds of the City of Jefferson City,
Missouri, in the amount of Nineteen Thousand Dollars($19,000) ,
for the purpose of purchasing additional apparatus useful in the
extinguishing of fires. Said bonds shall bo. of the denomination
of One Thousand Dollars (.,1 .000) each, shall be numbered from
0ne(1) to Nineteen(lcl) , both inclusive, shall bear date of July 1,
1940, and shall bear interest at the rate of trio and three-fourths
` per centum (2-3/45) per annum from the date thereof until tyre

able semi.- anually on January 1st and July 1st in each year.

The City of Jefferson City, Cole County, Taissouri,
acknowledges itself indebted and, for value received, hereby
promise to pay to bearer the sum of
ONE THOUSA1dD DOLLARS
($1,000.00) on the First day of July, 1�i , with interest there-
on, from the dote lv,reof until paid, at T11-6 ,rate of two and three-
fourths per centum(2-3/4,D) per annum, payable semi- annually on
January 1st and July 1st in each year. Interest accruing on
this bond on and prior to the maturity date hereof shall be pay-
able upon presentation and surrender of the attached coupons as
they severally become due.
Bot'ri principal of and interest on this bond are payable
in lawful money of the United States of America at the Office
of the I'lississippi Valley Trust Company, in the City of St.Louis,
State of Tlissouri, and for the prompt payment of this bond and
the interest thereon as and when the same matures and accrues,
the full faith, credit and resources of the City of Jefferson
Cit Y, 14issouri> and hereby irrevocably pledged.
This bond is one of a series of like date tenor and
effect, except as to number and date of maturity, numbered from
One(1) to Nineteen(l9) , both inclusive, aggregating the sum of
Nineteen Thousand Dollars($19,000) , isued by -the City of Jeffer-
son City, I.,issouri, for the purpose of purchasing additional
apparatus useful- in the extinguishing of fires, under authority
of Articles 4 and 9 of Chapter 38 of the Revised Statutes of
Missouri for the year 192.9, and of an election duly called and
held in said City on the 2nd day of April, 1940, whereat more
than two-thirds of the voter, cast were in favor of the issuance
of this bond and of the, issue of which this bond is one, and by
further authority of ordinances duly adopted by the City Council
of said City.

SECTION 5. That for the purpose of providing for the
payment of the principal. of and the interest on said bonds as
the same shall respective ly mature and accrue, there shall be and
there is hereby levied a direct continuing annual tax upon all of
the taxable property within said City of Jefferson City,
sufficient, after allowance shall have been made for the expenses
of collection and delinquencies in the payment of taxes, to pro-
duce in each of the years 1941 to 1959, both inclusive, the

SECTIOPI 6. That the said tax shall be extended upon
the tax rolls and collected in 'the same manner and at the same
time as other City taxes are collected, and the rate of tax
which shall be so extended shall be sufficient in each year
fully to produce the sums set out above res pectivel after
due allowance shall have been made for I delinquencies

and the proceeds derived from the collection of such tax shall
be credited to a fund hereby created and designated "Fire
Equipment Bonds Interest and Sinking Fund of 194011, and shall

SECTION 7. That for the purpose of providing for the
payment of interest in the surn of Two ;:undr.ed and Sixty-one
Dollars and Twenty-five Cents( $261.25) which will accrue on
said bonds on the first day of January, 1941, and prior to the
time when the first tax herein provided for can be collected
or become available, there is hereby appropriated out of the
GENERAL REVEI'UE Fund of said City of Jefferson City,
'Missouri, to the payment of said interest, the said sura of Two
Ilundred and Sixty-one Dollars and Tvienty-five Cents(,P'261.25,
and when the first tax herein provided for shall have been
collected, the said GEA:ERAL RPVF,!TUE Fund of the City shall
be reimbursed out of the; Interest and Sinking Fund hereinabove
provided for.
