BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON CITY AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 560, Revised Ordinances of the Uity of Jefferson
City, 1925, relating to the sale of narcotics is hereby repealed.

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 736 and 737, REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF JEFFERSON CITY, 19250 RELATING Tffi AND EXPLAINING THE SOURCES
OF CITY INCOME.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON CITY AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 736 and 737UL Revised Ordinances of the L'ity of
Jefferson City, 1925 relating Jm and explaining the sources of
city income are hereby repealed.

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE 9 of CHAPTER 44, REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF JEFFERSON CITY, 1925, DESCRIBING THE POWER OF THE CITY COUNCIL
TO ORDER THE- PAVING OF CERTAIN CITY STREETS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON CITY. AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Article 9 of Chapter 44, Revised Ordinances of the City of
Jefferson city, 1925, describing the paPr of the City council to
order the paving of certain xkx Gity streets is hereby repealed.

AN ORDINAN:'CE PROVIDING FOR NOMINATIION OF OFFICERS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON:
SECTION 1. NOMINATIONS--HOW MADE.-- All candidates for the
Offices of May or, Assessor, Collector, Marehal, Attorney, Police
Judge, and Alderman, and members of the City Central Committee, and
any other elective office of the political parties, shall be nomi-
nated at a Primary Election by the direct vote of the qualified voterv,
SECTION 2. PRIMARY ELECTIO11-41HEN AND WHERE HELD.--- The Pri-
mary Election as herein provided shall be held on the 2nd Tuesday of
March 1941, and every year thereafter, Said Primary Election shall
be held at such place in each Ward as the Council may direct, and shall
be at the polling places in each Precinct, as near as may be, at which tkx
the subeeeding general municipal election is to be held.
SECTION 3. DECLARATION FOR OFFICE--WHERE FILED--DEPOSIT.--
The nPme . of no cnadidate shall be printed upon any official ballot at any
Primary Election held under the provisions of this ordinance unless at

least 15 days prior to such Primary Election and on or before
5:00 c��c Vock-44. of such day a written declaration shall be
file 4a`� ice of the City Clerk, stating his full name,
residence, the office for which Yee proposes as a candidate, the
party upon whose ticket he It to be a candidate, that if nomi-
nated and -elected to such office he will qualify, and such de-
claratibn shall be substantially in the following form:

do announce myself as a candidate for the office of

further declare that if nominated and elected to such office

Each candidate except candidates for city central Comm-
ittees previous to filing such ,declaration, shall pay to the
Treasurer of the City Central 1'ommittss of the political party
upon whose ticket he proposes as a candidate and seeks nomination,
the sum of Five ($5.00) Dollars, and shall take a receipt therefor;
and file such receipt with and at the time be files his declara-
tion with the City Jerk. Said sums of money, so paid by the
several candidates, shall be evidence of •their good faith, and
shall be used as an expense fundl.::by the political parties upon whose
ticket the various cnadidates seek nomination and shall be dis-
bursed or used after such nominations.
SECTION 4. ONLY ONE DECLARATION TO BE FILED.-- No person
shall file more than one written declaration indicating the party
designated-nunder whicm his name is to be printed on the official
ballot, and it shall be unlawful for his name to appear on more
than one ballot aT said Primary election. No declaration paper
whall be withdrawn, and the names of candidates who so declare shall �:X
be printed on the official Primary ballots
SECTION 5. PRINTING OF OFFICIAL PRIMARY BALLOTS.--
Immediately after the last day aEd hour for filing declarations
of candidates, the City Clerk shall ppppa.re and cause to be printed
official primary ballots for each party, placing on each of said
ballots, under the ?Appropriate title of each office, and party
designation, the names of all candidates to be voted for at such
primary.
All ballots, blanks, supplies and all expenses necessarily
incurred in the preparation for and in conducting such primary
shall be paid out of the Treasury of the City.
SECTION 6. TICKETS-HOW PREPARED--HOW VOTED.-- At all such
Primary•Elections there shall be as many tickets-as there are
parties entitled to participate in such Primary Qlection. A
' political party, entitled to. participate within the meaning of
this section, is an affiliation of electors representing a political
party br orginization which at the last preceding general state
election before such primary polled as a party at least three per
cent of the entire vote cast in the City of Jerfe rson for the office
of Governor or for the office of Judge of the upreme Court, elected
at such precedirigxg election. The names of the candidates shall
be arranged under the appropriate title of the respective offices
and under the proper party designated upon the party ticket.
If any elector writes upon his ballot the name of any person who
is a 'candidate for the same office upon some other ticket that that
upon which his name is so written, this ballot shall not be counted
fmr such person. At the polls on Primary lection day each
qualified elector shall upon application be entitled to receive
from the- Judge of Election one ballot of the political pary par-
ticipating in such election for which he desires to vote. It shall
be• the duty of such Judges of Election to deliver such ballot t)
the electors; befe,re delivering a ballot to an elector the Judges of
Election having charge of the ballot shall write t::eir names or

initials upon the back of the ballot, and no otter writing shall tea MR
be on the back of the ballot except the number of the ballot voted.
SECTION 7. VACAIXIES, HOW FILLED.-- Vacaacies occurkin_g
after the holding of any Primary or where no person shall offer
himself as a candidate before such Pr mary, shall be filled by the
Party ommittee of such City; Provide however, that no name
shall $e allowed on any ticket until the required fee shall have
been paid.
SECTION 8. WHO ENTITLED TO VOTE.-- No person shall be
entitled to vote at any Primary unless a qualified elector of
the precinct and duly registered therein and known to affiliate AM

SECT,JON 9. WHQISE NAME SHALL APPEAR ON OFFICIAL BALLOT AS
NOMINEE.-- she person receiveing the greatest number of votes at
a Primary as the candidate of a party for an office shall be
the candidate of that party for such office and his name as
such candidate shall be placed on the official ballot at the
following election.

SECTION 10. - T1-1E VOTE, 17,OW DECIDED.-- In case of a tie
vote, the candidates having such equal number of votes shall
immediately determine by lot in the presence of the Mayor and
City Clerk and in such manner as they may designate which shall
be the nominee.
SECTION 11. JUDGES AN CLERKS.-- The Judges and lErks
for Primary -1'lections held under this ordinance shall becappoin-
ted in the same manner and possess the same qualifications, and Xxxxis
consist of the same number as Judges and C1ekks of general
Municipal elections and shall receive the same compensation,
and 'the Judges and clerks regularly appointed for regular
elections ' except; in cases of vacancies, shall act in Primary
elections.
SECTION 12.PROVISIONSIIF ELECTIONS.-- 'he provisions of
General Ordinance Number 42, entitled, "An Ordinance Relating
to Oity Elections", approved August 3, 1934, and the Laws of
Missouri in relation to holding of elections, the solicitation
of voters at the polls, the challenging of votes, the manner
of conducting elections, of taunting the ballots and making the
returns thereof, and all other kindred subjects, shall apply to
all primaries in so fer as they are consistent with this.
ordinance; the intent of this ordinance is to place Primary
Elections under the regulation and protection of the law now
in force as to general elections.
