BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, TYISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. 'hat the City Council hereby finds and declares that it is necessary to repair, surface add resurface at a cost not exceeding sixty (0.60) cents per front foot, Kansas Street from the south curb line on St. Mary' s Boulevard to the end of the curb re- tufn pn the north side of Dunklin Street, all of said improvement to be within the limits of sprinkling, oiling, repairing, surfacing and re- surfacing District NOtuber "ight (8) of the City of Jefferson, rtissouri, and all of said work to be done according to the specifications of the City of Jefferson, Missouri. Secti�'n 2. The `'ity vouncil finds and declares it is advisable and to the best i nterest of"the owners of property to be charged with the cost of said work; that said work shall be done by the City with- out letting a contract therefor, and that the Street Commissioner is hereby directed to purchase the necessary materials and employ the necessary labor for the performance of said w,.rk, and shall super- intend the same and keep all accurate accounts of the cost thereof. SECTION 3. The cost of such repairing, surfacing and resurfacing shall be defrayed by a special tax, to be assessed in favor of the City of Jefferson, r?issouri, on the adjoining property fronting or bordering on the street where the work is to be done, in proportion that thelinear feet of each lot fronting or bordering thereon bears to the total number of linear feet of all the property chargeable with the tax aforesaid, in the territory embraced within this ordinance. Special tax bills shall be issued, evidencing such assdssment, and shall 'become liens on said property, and shall be issued and enforced as pro- vided by law. SECTION 4. Cost of such repairing, surfacing and resurfacing, shall not exceed the sum of sixty (0.60) cents per fron foot per annum, on property abutting the -street aforesaid. • SECTION 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with thin ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 6. .this ordinance shall take effedt and be in force from and after its passage and approval.
