• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE $83.3
MILLION BOND PROPOSALS FOR THE BIRDVILLE
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTION TO BE
HELD ON SEPTEMBER 21, 1996.
WHEREAS, the City of Richland Hills supports the Birdville
Independent School District preparing students to succeed in school
and in life by providing them with an outstanding educational
framework from a premier school district; and,
WHEREAS, in the spirit of cooperative partnership between the
City of Richland Hills and the Birdville Independent School
District; and,
WHEREAS, the Community Bond Advisory Committee of parent,
community and business leaders was created to ensure that the
Birdville Independent School District continues to provide its
20,000 plus students with needed facilities and up-to-date
technological opportunities; and,
WHEREAS, the Committee recommended a school bond election to
be held on September 21, 1996; and,
WHEREAS, voters will be asked to consider five proposals
totaling $83.3 million for a new high school, plan for continued
growth through expansions of existing campuses, construction of a
new elementary school, purchase of additional school sites, provide
additional computers and technology for classroom instruction,
offer full-day academic kindergartens at all elementary schools,
and construct an athletics/fine arts complex for students.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Richland
Hills supports this effort and urges voters to support the
September 21 bond election; and,
FURTHERMORE, that the City of Richland Hills urges that the
Birdville Independent School District's student population be
provided with continued opportunities for educational excellence in
the areas of academics, athletics, fine arts, and career and
technology education.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of
Richland Hills, Texas, by a vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, and
0 abstentions, on this the 10th day of September 1996.
