BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CO1P3CIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. AMENDING SECTION 997.-- That Section 997 of the Compiled
Ordinances of the city of Jefferson, 1941) relating to weighing vehicles
over scales of private coal dealer, be amended by adding at the end
01' said section the following: "provided, that when dealers of coal,
fuel, or coke by truck or otherwise are made to any user under contrzet
for carrload quantities or more, to be wiighed at the mine, weighing
in the "ity scales shall not be required, so that said section as
amended shall read as follows:
Section 997. WEIGHING VEHICLE§ OVER SCALES OF PRIVATE COAL
DEALER. It shall be the duty of the ity Weighmaster to check, test
and determine the accuracy of any scales of-any coal dealer or mine
owner within a radius cf five miles of the ity of Jefferson, and when
such scales are so tested and found to be t;ue and to weigh accurately
the owner of such scales as a coal debl.er or mine owner may weigh the
coal, fuel or coke which he sells in Jefferson city over such scales,
All other persons, firms or corporations selling coal within the city
limits of the `'ity of Jefferson shall have the„same weighed upon the
city scales and shall lion demgnd produce the ity Weighmaster Weight
certificate therefor, provided, that when deliverids of coal, fuel or
coke by truck or otherwise are made to any user under a contract for
car--Load quantities or more, to be weighed at the mine, geighing on
the r,ity scales shall not be required.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective upon its passage and
approval.

AN ORDINANCE providing for the condemnation of land for street
purposes, authorizing and directing the City Attorney to being conk
demnation suit to acquire certain lands in the City of Jefferson for
street purposes.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUi'CIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. the �,ity Vouncil of the City of Jefferson finds
that it is reasonably necessary for the public good to extend Elm
Street from its intersection with Benton Street to Vetter' s Lane, M&
as shown on the plat attached to this ordinance.
Section 2. The City Attorney is hereby authorized and directed
to institute immediately in the Circuit co,_irt of Cole County, Missouri,
a condemnation suit against the owners of the various parcels of land
over which the extension of Elm Street passes, as shovm on the plat
and map attached hereto, and shall proceed to acquire the title for the
extension of Elm "treet for street purposes by condemnation from
the owners of the parcels of land ab shown on the plat attached hereto
so that the City of Jefferson shall own and acquire a street as sh ovm on
said plat commencing at the intersection of Elm Street and Benton Street
to and entering into Vetter' s lane, as shown on said plat.
Section 3. This ordinance shall become effocti.ve immediately
upon its passage and approval.
