ORDINANCE NO. 1998 -25
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 1997 -21 (Personnel Policy)
WHEREAS, The City of Greencastle, adopted and created a Personnel Policy and
Procedure Manual by Ordinance 1997 -21, on November 12, 1997; and
WHEREAS, The Common Council of the City of Greencastle desires to make
changes and corrections to the personnel policy.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED that the City of Greencastle, Indiana
Personnel Policy and Procedure Manual is amended as follows:
SECTION: 2:5
SUBJECT: VACANCIES AND APPOINTMENTS
A. In the event the Mayor and /or Supervisors determine that a position vacancy
exists, the Clerk- Treasurer shall be contacted concerning recruitment efforts.
B. The Clerk- Treasurer will conspicuously post a position vacancy notice for a
reasonable period of time [not less than three (3) working days nor more than
• ten (10) working days] at the City's facilities. The Clerk- Treasurer will
simultaneously advertise a position vacancy in the Banner - Graphic not less
than two times in two weeks. The notice shall include the date of posting as
well as the date the notice expires.

E. Any person interested in applying for a position vacancy must timely complete
a written application as to skills, abilities, knowledge, experience and other
relevant information, and which must be given to the Clerk- Treasurer by the
close of business on the last day of posting. The Clerk- Treasurer shall
distribute said application to the Mayor and the Department Head where the
vacancy exists within 24 hours of receipt.
F. Persons who submit an application for a job opening may be subject to a
personal interview, a drug /alcohol screening, criminal records check, and
other evaluations as deemed appropriate. Physical examinations will be
required for certain City positions.
O BE IT ORDAINED AND ADOPTED by the Common Council of the City of
Greencastle, Indiana, that Ordinance 1997 -21 is hereby amended as set forth above.
