AN ORDINANCE providing for the levy of the City taxes and es-
tablishing the rate of taxation for the "ity of Jeff',?rson, Missouri..
for the year 1944.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JErrFttSUN,
MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That there Jis hereby levied and assessed the
following rate on all real estate and personal property within
the limits of the city of Jefferson, 1issouri, not exempt from
taxation by the constitution or the laws of the State of Missouri,
as shown b- the assessment book of the "ity of -Jefferson, Missouri,
for the year 1943, and on all Merchants and Manufacturers state-
ments, made as provided by law.
First,— !''or the purpose of paying all current expenses of the
City of Jefferson, Missouri, for the fiscal year, the sum of
60 cents on the one hundred dollar valuation.
Second.— r'or the purpose of paying interest on the out-
standing bonds of the ity of Jefferson, Missouri., and for the
purpose of creating a sinking SwU fund to retire the outstanding kWuft
bonds of the city of Jefferson, Missouri, the sum of 00 cents
on the one hundred dollar valuation.
Third.-- ror the purpose of establishing and maintaining
a free pub1#3 library in the uity oi' Jefferson, Missouri, the
sum 02' 1_ cents on the one hundred dollar valuation.
SEUT10 2. It shall be the duty of the "ity Clerk to cause
to be extended in the appropriate column' s opposite each item of
taxable property on the assessment book, as returned by the
Assessor of the city of Jefferson) !:issouri, and corrected by the
County "oard of Equalization, the amount of taxes required to be
paid by each person as provided by Section 1 of this Ordinance.
