Section 7. "here shall be one stenographer in this de-

AN ORDINANCE providing that the Chief of Police of the City of
Jefferson, Missouri, may appoint seventeen patrolmen or policemen
in the same manner as now provided by law.
BE IT ORDAIT,TED BY THE CITY:ICOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON.,

Section 1. Hereafter the city of Jefferson., Missouri, shall
have seventeen regular patrolmen, which polic&men shall be appointed
and confirmed as is now provided by city ordinance of the City of
Jefferson,, mIssouri.
Sectio n 2. The chief of Police of the pity of Jefferson,,
Missouri, shall as soon as possible neme -five 91xx additional
policemen to be approved and confirmed in the same manner as now
providdd by city ordinance of the City of Jefferson., 1.111issouri.
Section 3. All regular patrolmen and policemen including
all traffic police officers and also the desk sergeant shall Vzork
not longer than eight hours in any one 24-hours day except inccase
of emergencies. Said 8-hour shift to be arranged by the Chiefof
Police in an order that will best promote good working conditions
In the Police Department.
Section 4. All police officers shall receive the same
monthly rate of pay that they are now receiving.
Section 5. All ordinances or parts of -ordinances in con-
flict hfLhtiawith are hereby repealed.
Section 6. This ordinance shall become effective imme-
diately upon its passage end approval. '
