HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution No. 091-98 04-13-1998 RESOLUTION NO. 91-98 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, IN SUPPORT OF NATIONAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK WHEREAS, the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) was established by Title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 to supply local governments with an effective tool to address the needs of their communities; and, WHEREAS, in 1986, to focus attention on the mission and accomplishments of the CDBG Program, the National Community Development Association created National Community Development Week to emphasize the importance of the CDBG Program; and, WHEREAS, Richland Hills has been a participant in the CDBG Program for many years and as a result of this exemplary program, the City has been able to enhance the social and economic environment of its residents; and, WHEREAS, the CDBG Program has effectually improved the quality of life of many individuals nationwide and, thus, forms the cornerstone from which community development is defined by providing decent housing, suitable living environments, and expanded economic opportunities, principally for low and moderate income persons and special populations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHLAND HILLS, TEXAS, that the week of April 6-10, 1998 be designated as: "NATIONAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK" and hereby supports initiatives to heighten awareness and understanding of the benefits of the Community Development Program. PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of Richland Hills, Texas, by a vote of 4 ayes, ~ nays, and ~ abstentions, on this the 13th day of April, 1998. APPROVED: C. F.
