HomeMy Public PortalAboutORD03268 74 center of the intersection of McCarty Street and Hamlin Street to the center of the intersection of McCarty Street and Hart Street be graded, in accordance wit1i the plans and specifications submitted by the City Engineer and filed in the office of the City Clerk, i nd that the total cost of the work aforesaid shall be charged and levied as a special assessment against the real estate abutting and fronting on said contemplated improvement, and special tax bill shall be Issued therefor, as provided in the City Charter, and in Section ' 822, 823, 824, and 825 of Chapter 44 of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, 1925, and of the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri, 1919 , and amendments thereto. is SECTION. 3 . The City Engineer is hereby instructed to advertise for bide for this improvement. SECTION. 4 . This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval. AN ORDINANCE CREATING A CITY PLANNING AND ZONING C012TISSION PRESCRIBING THE NU1,1BER AND QUALIFICATIONS OF ITS ISMHERS AND DEFINING THEIR DUTIES . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY . OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION. I . PURPOSE. In order to make adequate provision for and to stimulate, guide, direct, arrange and beautify the City and the future development and growth of Jefferson City, there is hereby created a commmission to be known as the City Planning and Zoning Commission. SECTION. II. MEIMERS. The Cit Planning and Zoning Commission shall consist of twelve (12T} members, three (3) of whom shall be the Mayor, the City Engineer, and a member of the Council. The last mentioned to be selected by the Council ft•om among its number. The other nine members shall be citizens qualified by know- ledge or experience to act ' on questions pertaining to' the develop- ment of the City planning. Of this number 'last mentioned, three (3) shall be citizens from other Cities in the State, six ( 6) citizens shall be residents of the City of Jefferson, Missouri. The citizen:, members shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the Council. Said Commissioners shall hold one-third for one year, one-third for two years , and - one-third for three years, from the first of May following their appointment, and annually thereafter, the Mayor shall before the First of May of each year appoint as before three (3)' Commissioners, who shall hold office for three years, and until their successors are appointed.. The Mayor may by and with the consent of the legislative branch of the .municipal govenrment, remove any commissioner for misconduct or neglect of duty. Any and all appointments to fill vacancies shall 'be for the unexpired term only. All members to serve without p ay. SECTION. III. PROCEDURE. The Commission may elect from among its members its own Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary, and from time to time provide such rules and regulations not inconsistant with the Ordinances of the City for its own organiza- tion and procedure as to it may seem proper, provided, however, that the Mayor, City Engineer and member of the Council shall not be eligible to hold any of the offices in this section mentioned. SECTION. IV. Reports.. The Commission shall make annual report to the Mayor, covering their investigations, transactions and recormnendations , and shall make such other and further reports relative thereto as to it may seem proper, or as may be .required by the 11.1ayor or Council. The said commission may employ such City planners, engineers, clerks and other persons as may be authorized.
