HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 61-62ORDINANCE NO. 61- 62 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTIONS OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE TO EXEMPT PERMIT FEES FOR EMERGENCY FALL OUT SHELTERS AND DECLARING THE URGENCY THEREOF; AND THAT THIS ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE IMMEDIATE EFFECT. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 303 of Ordiance No. 2225 of the County of Los Angeles, adopted by reference by the City Council of the City of. Temple City, by Section 8100 of the Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding a third sentence to subsec- tion (f) thereof to read as follows: "A fee shall not be required for the issuance of a permit to build a structure designed and used exclusively as an emer- gency fallout shelter." SECTION 2. Section 9 of the Ordinance No. 2252 of the County of Los Angeles, adopted by reference by the City of Temple City by Section 8200 of the Municipal Code, is hereby amended by adding an exception to the first paragraph thereof to read as follows: "A fee shall not be required for the issuance of a permit to perform work regulated by this code in a structure designed and used exclu- sively as an emergency fallout shelter." SECTION 3. Section 60 of Ordinance No. 2269 of the County of Los Angeles, adopted by reference by the City of Temple City by Section 8300 of the Municipal Code, is hereby amended by adding a second sentence to read as follows: "A fee shall not be required for the issuance of a permit to perform work regulated by this Code in a structure designed and used exclu- sively as an emergency fallout shelter." SECTION 4. "Urgency Clause." WHEREAS, the international situation is tense and there is danger of all -out nuclear war, and WHEREAS, in the event of such war there would be a definite need for shelters to protect the population against radio active fallout, and WHEREAS, it is advisable for individuals to construct fallout shelters throughout the City, and WHEREAS, the duly constituted authorities desire to do all in their power to assist in the construction of fallout shelters which are safe to static and earth loads; 165 NOW, THEREFORE, this Ordinance is necessary for the im- mediate Preservation of the public peace, health and safety and shall take effect immediately on its adoption.
