Mayor. #Z5a8AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING TAXI CAB DRIVERS TO SECURE PERMITS FIXING THE COST OF SAID PERMITS, AND PROVIDING FOR THE RXVOCATION THEREOF. WHEREAS, The City Council deems it necessary for the safety and welfare of the public of .Jefferson City that the authorities have list of all persons engaged as drivers of public taxicabs, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JERFERSON AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That on and after the effective date of th&s ordinance, it shall-be unlawful for any person to engage in the occupation of operator of driver of a moten vehicle used as a taxicab for hire unless such person has pbtained a permit authorizing him to engage as an operator or driver of taxicabs for hire, Section2. Each and every person desiring to engage as a driver or operator of a taxicab shall apply tp the city clerk on blanks to be furnished by the clerk for a permit is authorize the supplicant to drive or operate taxicabs; said blanks shall require the person to-,..' state his name, age, address, and his registered chauffeur number issued by the commissioner of notor vehicles of the Sjtate of Missouri.. Upon the filing of said application, the City Clerk shall call the application to the attention of the Police Board, which, at the earliest convenient time, shall act on said application, and if the application is approved a permit shall be granted upon the payment of $1.00 , dollar, for a period of one *ear. Section 3. It shall be unlawful for any person to engage as a driver, chauffer or operatot of a taxicab in the city of Jefferson unless he shall have, at all times, displayed in the car which he is operating, the license herein required. Section 4. The police Board shall have authority to revoke permits issued to drivers who shall be convicted of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, or who shall be convicted of wreckless and careless driving, or who shall be convicted of violating the speed limit fixed for 'the operation of motor vehicles, or who shall be convicted of failing to observe boulevard stpps and traffic signals created bu ordinance of the city ofm Jefferson, PROVIDED, HOWEVER, said permit shall not be revoked until after a hearing before the Police Board at which the 4older of the permit sought to be revoked may appear and offer testimony. Section 5. Whenever the Police Board, or a majority of the members thereof shall deems it necessary to oondider the revocation of a permit, said board shall caused to be served upon the holder of the permit sought to be revoked a notice of the time and place of a hearing, which #A0 notice shall be served by the Chief of Police or any Patrolman upon the holder of the permit, and the officer so serving the notice shall make his return on a copy thereof whioh return shall be filed with the city okerk and be by him returned to thePolice Board at the time set for the hearing on the revocation of the peripit.. Section 5. On and after the effective date of thei ordinaAe, any person engaging as a chauffeur, driver or operator of a taxi- cab in the city of Jefferson, without the permit herein required, being displayed in the motor vehicle he is operating shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by14 fine of not more than one hundred dollars, or by °' imprisonment in the county jail for not more than ninety day&,
